“No sleep - go elsewhere”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014 via mobile

This is a merge of hotel, cafe place, bar and most terribly a night club.
We stayed on Saturday night of April 19th, 2014. Location was good - just in the center of Almere so I assumed it would be a reasonable place. Parking was a bit far (5 mins of dragging the luggage in the middle street as no car access) but not too costy in the garage nearby.
The room was small and bed was uncomfy. The shower was dirty with used toilet paper. Also the window opens to another room and garbage in between the windows.
But most definaty the major issue was the disco club mentioned here in other comments that I unfortunately read only later when coming to review. Oh what a horrible experience! To be honest the reception warned us that there will be music from a club nearby but I didn't understand that they meant the club is in their ground floor!! And the sound got stronger and stronger until the music was no longer the problem but the basses that can't be avoided... Until 4:30am we were awake.
DON'T COME TO THIS PLACE UNTIL THEY REALIZE A HOTEL IS NOT A NIGHT CLUB!

Were placed here since our first hotel had double booked us.
It feels more like a bar/restaurant than a hotel. When you arrive you check in at the restaurant disk right beside the door, so when you are a company of 5 standing with your bags it gets crouded when other guests wants to get in or out.

Our room was big and nice. Beds really comfy. Too bad we didn't get any sleep in them cause I think they would've been great.

The cleaning is a bit fast done, the room had round corners and the tables had stains that I think could have been removed.

The breakfast, dinner and drinks were good. And the staff was really nice and caring. They really made us feel welcome.

Of course we stayed for friday-sunday when they have a nightclub downstairs, and with not more then two walls between that and our room, we could sing along with the music. Not much sleeping that weekend.

Room Tip: Away from the square if there is a festival outside. The festival sounds louder than the nightclub.

Other reviewers have commented about the good location of this hotel, and it's all true.
But I suspect that this is a place that doesn't quite know what it is trying to be. During the day it's a bar/restaurant and at the weekend it's also a night club. As I discovered, not great if you like an uninterrupted sleep on a Saturday evening.
I was warned, but didn't however expect the sound of the club to penetrate to my room on the second floor as loudly as it did. It was a great relief when the music stopped at 4.20am!
The young staff are keen and eager to provide a good service, and the food in the restaurant was good and inexpensive. But I think a good manager could bring a bit of much needed process and organisation to the hotel side.
A couple of small niggles. Having been briefed on where to find breakfast on Sunday morning, in the hotel, I was rather surprised to discover that instead, I had to walk to another hotel nearby!
The room I was in was basic but comfortable, but somehow, housekeeping forgot to service the room during my two night stay.
So, would I stay there again? Possibly, but would look for something nearby first that understands what a hotel needs to provide for its customers! Last positive thought. Free Wi-Fi is an essential nowadays and the hotel provides it. Larger hotel groups - please take note!

The beds were horrible and really uncomfortable. Having to check in at the bar felt unprofessional. Staff are really nice though and the food in the restaurant is good for the price.

Our trip to the Netherlands was unplanned, and our arrangements were rapidly made only a few days in advance, but this trip was an excellant adventure. This hotel made all the difference between normal and something memerable. The bed was huge and exceptionally comfortable - what a treat. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed our evening drinks and the plentiful and varied breakfasts. I believe the manager purchased a toaster for us (as we are English) for our use at breakfast - but when in Rome!!! As we stayed Sunday through Tuesday there was no - Disco Noise - effect on us, but seeing the many patrons enjoying their day and evenings in the place on the quiet days shows how well the place functions. This is due to pleasant and considerate staff, even down to the 'Resident Gay' who happily broke every boundary whilst we ate our breakfast. No hairdrier, but a great coffee machine.

Room Tip: Try to overlook the square.

I’m a regular guest at this modern and trendy bar/restaurant/hotel in Almere. It is a five minute walk from Almere Centrum station (direct trains to Amsterdam center and Schiphol airport) and adjacent to bus lines serving all of Almere. Underground parking next door as well.
Clean simple modern rooms most with balconies (smokers note) and free wifi. Only possible drawback for couples is that all beds are singles, but comfortable and side by side.
Much warmer atmosphere than the Apollo Hotel and closer to restaurants and the station.
Very friendly staff!

Room Tip: Ask for room with balcony if you are a smoker
