“Decent business hotel for asians”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

This is a very decent hotel for business travels.
Its comfortable, with good wireless network and decent working desk in the room and a great view of the waterfront.
It is located near to the food and restaurant areas for your convenience to get decent food.
Its quite far from the Almere train station though...

The staff are generally friendly, which is a very thankful thing as most of them are not warm to asians.

Overall very comfortable stay for a business traveller.

Room Tip: Do not put your room card with phone, it just screw the room card... (which is weird to me)

As a North American traveller, I have stayed at this hotel for a week while on business. This is what I have to say about it.

The design of the hotel, like much of Almere, is very modern. In the rooms this has translated to a stylish though spartan interior. Those who are staying here longer will not find any storage such as a chest of drawers to unpack into or store clothes. There is a small closet with 5 hangers, and that is it. The beds are clean, soft and single sized. My room featured two side by side. I found this somewhat inconvenient, as some of my things fell in the gap between the beds, requiring the movement of furniture to retrieve. And after my lengthy flights, a queen sized bed would have been appreciated. Spare blanket and pillow are provided. Wooden flooring is clean, but can be a bit cold on the feet. There is a small flatscreen tv fixed to the wall opposite the bed, with an unusual remote. There are a small selection of channels available for free, the rest you will have to pay for.

The bathroom I enjoyed. It is smallish, clean and features a generous tub. Shower gel, shampoo/conditioner and hand wash are all provided in wall mounted squeeze bottles, otherwise there are no toiletries.

All in all the room is clean, relatively comfortable and somewhat quiet. I did hear noise from outside, but nothing that would disturb my sleep. The window, on the wall opposite the door, is placed high up and not so easy to see out of. It lends a bit of a prison-like feeling. The window can be opened. The devil of this hotel is in the details. I found it a bit scuffed, it feels used. My drapes had a small hole in them, and the tissue dispenser was falling off the wall. Very small sections of paint are missing. The location is very handy. It has the feeling of a hotel attempting to portray a higher class image, without the complete budget to execute this. Hotel offers laundry services, and each room has individual heating/cooling. Wireless internet is free for guests. I found the hotel staff to be a bit cold, but willing to help when required to do so. Cleaning of the room seemed a bit inconsistent, as day towels I had intended to reuse (and hung up, following the suggestion in the bathroom) were changed, other days towels and the like are just left there. The only thing they do is make my bed. Small things like the sugar and creamer for my tea were not replaced after they were consumed.

Attached to the lobby is the hotel's restaurant, SaladaSamba. The restaurant has a trendy/modern image, and boasts food with an international flair. Food is a bit expensive here, a standard main course will set you back 19 euro. There is a plentiful breakfast buffet served in the morning. The restaurant is similar to the hotel in the execution of it's design, and while it feels trendy, it doesn't completely manage upscale. Staff here are a mixed bag. While I appreciate the design elements of having the open kitchen, loud or social kitchen staff wasn't a pleasant addition to dining here. Servers are hit and miss, with some being friendly, polite and attentive, with others going about their day like robots. Food did not arrive in a particularly speedy fashion, but portions were decent and nothing was offensive.

All in all, this hotel is a solid choice for anyone who is not looking to stay long term, wants a room in the heart of downtown, and appreciates an efficient room.

Stayed here now for a second time for a midweek and wondered again why?
Good things, the hotel is new and clean, no doubt about that. Parking is easy, right below the hotel (but its around 11 euro per day). It is centrally located in Almere so that is handy too, near restaurants and shops.
Now the bad points, Almere modern, cold, no heart. Smallish rooms but adequate. TV system is poor, pc based and slow and unreliable. Some rooms have only a high window, you need to stand on your toes to see out (feels like a prison cell). Major complaint, the internet is plain bad. It kicks in and out continously, I complained about it and they would look at it bu nothing changed. Prices of food and drinks are too high. Breakfast is good but pricy.
Would I stay here again? Not sure, I guess it is not too bad, but nothing to write home about either.

I have now stayed at this hotel 3 times in the past year. It is always busy and you need to reserve a room ahead of time. The hotel is excellent as a central point to walk Almere in the evenings, after business. Almere is a very new city, built on reclaimed land from the sea and well thought out for bicycles and pedestrians. I like the staff, attentive without any of the attitude you can get in larger centers. The restaurant menu in the evening is quite decent if you decide to stay in. Breakfast is good, buffet style and does cater to North American tastes. The rooms are good, if a bit small with modern conveniences and not much storage. No irons in the rooms, but you can get the at the front desk. I don't care much for the beds, a double bed is actually two twins pushed together, but the linens and duvets are very clean and fresh. Good wifi, lots of walkways and water canals around the hotel and restaurants within walking distance. It is very safe to walk in the evenings.

We stayed at this hotel while visiting family nearby. Ultra modern hotel, rooms are not very cozy but comfortable and very clean. About a 15 minute walk from the Almere Centrum train station. Breakfasts are mediocre, but our evening dinner was fantastic. Front staff very helpful and friendly.
