Just a great little boutique hotel at a great price by Copenhagen's standards. My girlfriend and I stayed there for three nights and thought it was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast (included in the price) was excellent.

I noticed another review mentioning that the hotel is a little too far from the city centre to walk however we found it to be no problem. We arrived by train at the Central Station (Kopenhavn H) and travelled by foot with suitcases to the hotel in about 20 minutes.

My one small quibble is that the rooms could do with ceiling-fans or air conditioning as it was very hot in Copenhagen when we were there.

I would definitely stay at the Avenue again.

As our tour group was going out on a Holland America cruise they wanted to arrive a day early. We researched the city and after exploring several properties settled on the Avenue. The staff, especially Camilla, were remarkable. . . efficient, helpful, and personable. The welcome is wonderful with ivory pillar candles on a silver tray at the desk to welcome you. The rooms were lovely and quiet. The only challenge is the tiny elevator, which required a bit of ingeninuity but was managed. The continental breakfast was wonderful--try the yogurt w/ toasted sunflower seeds and a drizzle of honey. The patio out back is a lovely place to share a drink from the resident's bar and browse a cook book from the library. We will look for reasons to return to this wonderful retreat!

What can I say, except that Avenue doesn't disappoint!

I am the designated hotel booker for four friends who get together each year to cruise and once again I found a winner. We come from three different areas of the world and we were so happy that Avenue's staff took care of our needs. The most important thing was that we arrived early in Copenhagen on both ends of our cruise and we were able to check in immediately, about 9:00 am.

Our rooms were simple but big and full of light. We could open the windows wide and get fresh air. And the beds were so divine that we could hardly get up the next day!

Yes, Avenue isn't in the center of the city, but just ask the wonderful English-speaking staff and they will tell you how to use buses and the Metro so that you can avoid the expense of Danish taxis.

As for the immediate neighborhood, just use your feet and you'll quickly find good restaurants, a 7-11 and a bakery with the best Danish pastery ever!

Looking at some of these reviews, I think you have to accept that if you are going to stay in a european city the hotels are going to be a little shabby-chic but at least they have character! I stayed here for one week in july with my boyfriend. it was 450GBP for six nights in the first week of july and the price included breakfast (i booked with gta hotels). I wasn't expecting much for that price and was pleasantly surprised. once you get past the worn carpet on the stairs and the tiny lift, the rooms are lovely., cool danish bathrooms, nice shower, fresh towels / loo roll every day, beds made etc no horror stories. VERY comfy bed! noisy road so if you can't sleep easily ask for a room overlooking the back/courtyard. the lobby has a nice bar and friendly staff and I enjoyed lounging on the very comfy sofas with a glass of wine after a long days sightseeing :)

it's very easy to get to the city centre so I don't know why everyone is complaining about the lack of restaurants in the area since copenhagen has a very advanced transport network and you can get just about anywhere in a short space of time. As you leave the hotel, turn right and the main road your are on leads straight into the city hall square/ radhuspladsen (sp?). you also pass a few lakes on the way which is quite nice. 25 minute stroll/ 7minute cycle/ 2 minute car journey. alternatively, the metro is on the next block as you turn right out of the hotel and you can go anywhere on it. i recommend giving it a go , it's so bright and airy and ultra-modern, totally different from the london underground! you can also bring your bike on the metro if you want to go home at night and your bike lights have been nicked/ it's raining.

My boyfriend liked the flatscreen wall mounted tv in our hotel room. unfortunately it broke one day but we let the staff know on our way out that morning and they had fixed it by the time we returned in the afternoon so if there is anything you are not happy about don't hesitate to let them know!

free parking and space for bikes. i think it is the 250s bus from the airport but just ask the bus driver - they all speak english. enjoy your stay!
