“Lovely Breakfast & Homely Rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

I was staying at this hotel for 3 weeks - first two weeks in a single room and the last week in a double room. Rooms are spacious and has a couch, desk, smart tv, good free wifi and ensuite bathroom. The single room had a shower only and the double room had tub and shower in the bathroom. There is a nice lounge (a bar in the night) area to relax and meet new people. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful.

I loved the free breakfast with freshly home-made breads, spreads, yoghurt and fruits etc.

The hotel is situated close to the heart of the Copenhagen city (10-15 min walking distance) and University of Copenhagen (30-40 min walking). Bicycles are available for rent, but a big too expensive.

I really loved my stay at Avenue Hotel.

“Perfect weekend break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

My friend and I had booked a weekend escape to Copenhagen and this hotel proved the perfect base for a couple of days exploration and relaxation.

The hotel is beautifully decorated (I was a big fan of the comfy sofas, fireplace and Missoni blankets) and our twin room was a great place to lay our heads. (The only negatives I could cite were an overheated room and slightly stinky bathroom drains – It’s testament to the staff and décor that neither these really detracted from an overall fantastic stay.)

The reception staff were brilliant – friendly, efficient and so helpful. We arrived late on Friday night and we were quickly told what food could be ordered in and presented with a complimentary cocktail (we booked through Mr & Mrs Smith). In the morning, having worked our way through the generous buffet, we set off to explore Copenhagen and all the sights.

The hotel is a little further out than expected (20 mins walking) but as we were happy walking this really wasn’t an issue and at night we hopped in a taxi.

Would I go back? Yes, definitely.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter.

“Attractive and friendly but lacking warmth and basics”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

A lovely old building, beautifully decorated. Comfortable if soft beds. Staff very friendly and helpful. More than adequate breakfast included, as is wifi and even a small minibar. Downsides: room cold, bathroom cold, non-thermostatic shower, no tea/coffeemaking facilities, no full-length mirror in room, you have to leave and then retrieve your room key from reception (may be a wait), strange clicking from a panel in my bathroom kept waking me up, lift/elevator very small and its manual door may get left open and so it won't come when called. I used both duvets on my bed and was still cold for ages -- taking a shower is the only way to get warm. But apparently cold rooms are not unusual in Copenhagen?

Room Tip: See if you can get one with a hot radiator rather than a lukewarm one

“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Almost everything about the hotel was really good for the British visitor. All the staff were really helpful and insisted on sorting out breakfast in a bag on the Monday morning as we were leaving really early for our flight home.

The room itself was stylish, although the bathroom was a bit on the small side and the decor was approaching the tired side. The lounge was very comfortable with some big sofas - ideal to relax in after tramping the streets for a day. Breakfast was everything one needs - a wide variety of choice - I particularly liked the cheese cutter.

Although a bit out of the City Centre, there were 2 buses and a metro station close by and trips in and out were just £1.50 each with the 10 trip pass.

Room Tip: The road at the front is pretty busy
