“Good food - excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Ate here with family on Saturday after a days cycling round a nearby reservoir. The choice of gluten free for one of our party was the best we have experienced . The food was great and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We will eat there again when we return to the area as it was also great value for money.

“Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

Ate here on Saturday night, not a real ale pub and the decor wasn't to my taste, chamber pots aplenty hanging from the ceiling isn't my thing. The staff were friendly and the service good. 3 of us had the house speciality pie, it was lovely, good sized portion too, though overpriced for pub food at £12.85 and one had gammon, around £12. However the pub was busy, people obviously don't mind the higher than usual prices for pub grub. It also gets consistently good reviews for food and service, unlike most in Castleton & Hope and that's worth a lot.

“Very pleasant experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We were there for Sunday lunch and had the Sunday special - roast beef and the trimmings. There were 5 of us and a couple had the lamb dinner. All very good in a lovely conservatory that opens out to the back porch. I can't comment on the price because we were guests.

“Great Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

Thank you for a great meal, 6 of us came , we were staying at a near by caravan site, food was top class, puddings spectacular. Only 1 criticism , the men were ill in the night & can only think the beer pipes & pump need to be cleaned properly,
