“Great resort at beautiful beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2006

My husband and I stayed at the Mykonos Grand for 2 days as part of our honeymoon in Sep 2005. It is located about 10-15 min shuttle ride (arranged by the hotel) from the ferry port. Away from the massive party crowd, which was nice as we don't like partying too much. It was not cheap (260 Euros per night) but well worth it. The hotel is excellent with a very nice pool and right by a beautiful beach. Our room was very lovely with our own private steam room in the bathroom. Daily breakfast was fresh and delicious. We had a wonderful stay.

My wife and I honeymooned at Mykonos Grand in July and WILL be repeat customers. The accomodations and amenities were unparalleled, the staff attentive, courteous and professional; the island itself divine. The shuttle service to the hotel from the airport was prompt and convenient. We felt at home from the very moment we set foot on the property. For those of you who wish to see the island, rent a car or ATV since the resort is located in a relatively secluded portion of the island. My only criticism of the Grand is that I found the food to be average, better fare at more attractive prices can be found in town. If you're headed to Mykonos, this is the hotel... If you're thinking of honeymooning in Greece, stop thinking. My wide and I could not have been happier!

  • Liked — The Hotel itself was immaculate.
  • Disliked — Food... boring and overpriced
  • Tips/Secrets — Don't try to walk anywhere... take the bus or rent a car

We stayed at the Mykonos Grand at the end of September 2006 as the second leg of our honeymoon and everything about it was fantastic! From the moment we were picked up from the airport to when we were dropped off at the ferry, we were thoroughly impressed with the property, rooms, views, dining and all of the very friendly and helpful staff. Of the 4 hotels we stayed at during our honeymoon this was by far the best. The huge salt water pool was amazing as well. We would recommend this classy resort to anyone.

This was certainly the perfect setting for our honeymoon!
The property is simply stunning, with its breathtaking views and gorgeous architecture. Our beautiful room was equipped with a jacuzzi bath and separate steam room, which we used often. It also had a lovely balcony to watch the amazing Mykonos sunsets. You have to take the bus or a taxi to town, but in the evening if there were enough guests waiting to go to town, the hotel would use its own shuttle bus to transport us all.

We were already impressed with the Mykonos Grand from our stay alone, but it was on our last day that the hotel proved its true calibre as a leading hotel. Our ferry to Santorini was cancelled due to bad weather, and we didn't find out until we had checked out early that morning. Panayiotis Dactilidis, the Operating Manager, immediately arranged for alternative transportation for us AND gave us another room to use until the afternoon so that we could have some pool time and still shower before our flight. We truly appreciated such courtesy and outstanding customer service. What might have been a traveling nightmare turned out to be a minor inconvenience, thanks to Panayiotis.

Between the luxurious accomodations and unbelievable customer service, we would return to the Mykonos Grand in a heartbeat!

  • Liked — Gorgeous setting, outstanding customer service, lovely spa
  • Disliked — Expensive wireless internet in room, only 2 computers with internet access in lobby

There's not much else I can say that hasn't been said already. We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights during our honeymoon earlier this summer, and had a wonderful experience. The rooms are large and comfortable, and the bathrooms are very nice. The pool area was so relaxing that we didnt want to leave. We never made it down to the beach area, but we really didn't care. The staff was friendly, helpful, always smiling and made us very comfortable. The breakfast was simply outstanding, you can find just about anything including making your own Greek coffee.
The hotel is in a perfect location if you're not interested in the craziness of Mykonos Town. There is a bus that takes you into town for shopping, dinners, drinks, etc. and then its easy to catch a taxi back to the hotel later that evening for about 5-6 euro.
All in all, we would highly recommend this hotel. I would have a difficult time believing there are many higher end accomodations on the entire island. Enjoy!!

This hotel is fantastic. The pool is beautiful, the pool side service is discreet and efficient, the sun loungers / beds are heavenly, breakfast is enormous, the beach and its tavernas are close by and a lovely place to spend the afternoon. I would have loved to stay for 5 months rather than 5 nights. The ladies on reception in the hotel were very friendly and great fun. There is a bus service very regularly that costs next to nothing and takes you in to mykonos town which is packed with bars and restaurants. If you like music and to dance and drink then definitely pay a vist to Paradise Beach and be sure to have a taxi arranged to pick you up at 10/11pm so you can go home, shower and go back in to town. This is one of my favourite places in Europe.

  • Liked — the hotel facilities
  • Disliked — long walk from pool to reception and bus in to town
  • Tips/Secrets — dont worry about the bus - there are 25 taxis in mykonos so its good to be near a bus pick up point

I just returned from my honeymoon and can definately recommend Mykonos Grand Hotel & Resort. We started our honeymoon in Myknos (well Athens 1st, but that doesn't really count IMHO). The hotel is a great choice for honeymooners. It's location on the island is very quiet. The pool are is beautiful. The service is a little slow (it's Greece, afterall), but gererally very friendly and properly professional. The private beach is also very nice. It's not big, but we never had a problem finding available lounge chairs.

Additionally, the hotel faces west, so you get a nice sunset every night.

In terms of location, there's not really much around the hotel at all. There are a couple of small tavernas down by the beach. We ate one which was OK, but the service was a bit wierd... It's a 15 minute walk to Ornos on a winding dusty road. We like Ornos, which is quiet and on the beach with a few good restaurants. One is call Ornos, the other is call Ithaki. Get the fish! The walk isn't terribly scenic, so I'd recommend catching the bus for €1,10 even for the 2 minute drive down the hill to Ornos. You can also take the bus to Mykonos town (or a cab for €7), where there are loads of good restaruants and a "scene". We ate at Aqua and were very happy with the meal and service.

It should be noted that Mykonos island is very windy. It's actually known for it's wind, which comes out of the north and can be pretty damn strong. We were generally able to find a sheltered spot, but I can see it being a nuisance for those less tolerant of more than a gentle sea breeze.

I have a few minor complaints. First, it would have been nice to have recieved a complimentary bottle/glass of wine or champagne since it was our honeymoon. Instead a got a letter telling me about all the romantic services I could purchase... Second, our view was partially obstructed by another building and on a ground floor, so we didn't feel safe leaving the doors to the veranda/balcony open, even at night.

All in all, this is a really nice propery with a good staff and a generally good value.

  • Liked — Pool Area
  • Tips/Secrets — Ask for a room that isn't on one of the ground floors.
