Mykonos was the last stop on a Greek Island-hopping trip my now-fiancee and I took. We stayed at the Grace's "sister hotel" (we think they are run by the same management company) on Santorini (Ikies Traditional Houses), and were referred to the Grace when we booked our room on Santorini. The Grace's Web site, of course, looks amazing, and the hotel MORE than lived up to our expectations!
The Grace provides FREE van transport to and from the port and/or airport, which is a nice luxury. We were promptly greeted when we landed on Mykonos and immediately taken back to the hotel, along with three other guests. The bellhop took care of our luggage, and we were given an extensive tour of the hotel, which ended in our room. When we arrived in our room, we pleasantly--to say the least!--were surprised to learn that the "VIP" suite we had booked for our final night was ours for our ENTIRE stay, and at no extra charge! We were blown away and absolutely estatic!
Sidenote: We think, possibly, that our hotel on Santorini had something to do with this. It just so happens that Eleni, who works at Ikies on Santorini, has a sister who works at the Grace. AND we got engaged our last night at Ikies. Funny coincidence?!
The "VIP" suite was ridiculously chic and plush. The king-size bed was just so comfy and snuggly, it made me want to get one of those Cocomat mattresses for my own house! The bed looked directly onto the private terrace, which faced the sea. With the private terrace came a private spa, a double-bed lounger, bistro table and chairs, and a private ELEVATOR! Wow! And that was only the beginning. The bathroom was definitely one of the biggest I have seen in a hotel, and the shower was the size of a real steam room. Which by the way, you could do in the shower, too!
Outside of the accommodations, the staff was amazingly helpful and terribly friendly. They were more than willing to recommend restaurants (from affordable to pricey), give out detailed directions through town, book rental cars, book excursions, call taxis, and even let us use the driver and van to and from Mykonos Town when he was available. SUPERB!
Champagne breakfast was served at the restaurant by the pool every morning. A continental breakfast was set up, which in itself was fantastic. Fruits, nuts, deli meats, cheeses, pastries, yougurt, fresh-squeezed orange juice etc. BUT, you could also order from an additional menu--at no extra charge. From there you could get pancakes, souffles, eggs, omlettes, additional pastries, etc. Those were probably some of my favorite meals!
We were on Mykonos during the low-/mid-season, so the hotel was not crowded and the weather was really quite pleasant. However, Mykonos Town got crazy and super-crowded over the weekend, so I cannot imagine being there during the high season! It was really a nice, quiet, zen-like atmosphere throughout the hotel during our stay. I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel, it's staff and our stay there. It went above and beyond anything we expected and even hoped for. If I ever return to Mykonos, this will definitely be my hotel choice again!
