“Excellent place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

3 night stay, with meals each night, on a walking holiday in a group of 5 males. Cheerfull and helpful staff, smart rooms and a building which has received a lot of care. Full marks and best of luck with your ongoing plans to improve further. When we return to walk in the Pateley Bridge area it will be our first port of call for a place to stay.

booked the "Harefield hall" for a surprise 2nt break for my partner for our aniversary, was looking for a quiet hotel with good facilities. came across this hotel by chance on the internet, after checking the previous reviews, booked a double 4 poster bed room. being a travel agent, i have stayed in alot of hotels in my years. However I would like to say we had a fab time and cannot fault our weekend.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely hotel for the location/food/accommodation/cleanliness & lastly the most important for me is "ambience"

well done mike & elaine this place is a credit to you and your hard work.

We went for a weekend of walking in Nidderdale. The hotel has seem better times but we could not have been made more welcome by the new owners who explained that they were working to restore the hall to its former glory bit by bit without overstretching themsleves. So this is a modest offering but absolutely everything was very well done and at a tremendous price. Rooms were a good size. It was beautifully quiet and the views are stunning. I can see why some might grumble. If you are that type dont go. Only go if you can see excellent value for money to stay in a very pleasant and welcoming hotel

My wife and myself stayed 2 nights on a pay for 1 night get 1 free deal on hotels own website.
Had a lovely large warm room with a large separate bathroom with 2 sinks, bath, separate shower, bidet. All very clean.
Had breakfasts and evening meals in hotel both days. All food was of a high quality and was perfectly cooked. Compliments to the chef.
Used the pool, jacuzzi and sauna, all clean and tidy.
This hotel is in a beautiful setting in its own grounds with fantastic views from the rooms.
We have never stayed anywhere with such enormous character.
We read a lot of the reviews on here before we booked and 1 or 2 issues were mentioned, so we had slight reservations about booking. Having now been, we would say forget the nitpicking, come here, sit in the bar, drink some beer and you will find youself relaxed and immersed in the 500 year old buildings character. In a building this old the odd problem is bound to occur but we have never had such a large room/bathroom, spa facilities, such good food, good beer, excellent hosts and staff for the price we paid. We hope the owners realise their goal of completing the renovation of the whole building and grounds in the not too distant future and don't put the prices up too high so that we can still afford to return!

We stayed on a three nights for two deal. The room was fine with a lovely view. The food was of very good quality with what can only be described as "hearty portions" - the steak and ale pie and the curry were well worth trying. Breakfast contained a good choice between full english and other options such as scrambled egg and smoked salmon. Service very friendly. A very enjoyable stay.

Harefield Hall is on the edge of the Dales in it's own hidden bit of the Nidder Valley, so good as a starting/finishing point, with a remarkable amount of features and grounds for a place that offers such good rates. I visited with a group of friends. It was full...full of friendly folk both running and staying in the hotel making for a great atmosphere. I was reminded of the famous ads for AVIS - 'we try harder' - and that's what everyone here does; trying harder to make sure you have a great time and trying harder to give you fantastic value in these hard times. (Which as we all know is not always the case.) They seem to stage a number of events at the Hotel which judging by the effort put in would be a great reason to visit. So if you are looking for great value and friendly folk then you should give it a try.

just had a 3 night break here and it was fantastic, the hotel owners mike and elaine were the hosts with the most, nothing was too much trouble and they did everything to make your stay a very enjoyable experience, the food and drink was great, the service was outstanding. The staff are treated well by the owners which in turn showed in how the guests are treated by them. The creaky floorboards added to the charm of this old place and it is one that we will go back to visit .
