We stayed on a three nights for two deal. The room was fine with a lovely view. The food was of very good quality with what can only be described as "hearty portions" - the steak and ale pie and the curry were well worth trying. Breakfast contained a good choice between full english and other options such as scrambled egg and smoked salmon. Service very friendly. A very enjoyable stay.

Harefield Hall is on the edge of the Dales in it's own hidden bit of the Nidder Valley, so good as a starting/finishing point, with a remarkable amount of features and grounds for a place that offers such good rates. I visited with a group of friends. It was full...full of friendly folk both running and staying in the hotel making for a great atmosphere. I was reminded of the famous ads for AVIS - 'we try harder' - and that's what everyone here does; trying harder to make sure you have a great time and trying harder to give you fantastic value in these hard times. (Which as we all know is not always the case.) They seem to stage a number of events at the Hotel which judging by the effort put in would be a great reason to visit. So if you are looking for great value and friendly folk then you should give it a try.

just had a 3 night break here and it was fantastic, the hotel owners mike and elaine were the hosts with the most, nothing was too much trouble and they did everything to make your stay a very enjoyable experience, the food and drink was great, the service was outstanding. The staff are treated well by the owners which in turn showed in how the guests are treated by them. The creaky floorboards added to the charm of this old place and it is one that we will go back to visit .

Just arrived home from a weekend break at the Harefield Hall. This is a wonderful little hotel. Very warm and welcoming. Superb atmosphere in the bar. We had a bar meal on Friday night and ate from the al a carte menu in the restaurant on Saturday. All the food was excellent and I would definitely recommend the Eggs Benedict for breakfast. Wonderful hollandaise sauce. The hotel is a family owned hotel and whilst obviously in need of love this is not the fault of the current owners and anyone who wants to complain about it obviously hasn't taken the time to speak to the owners and find out their story. They clearly love the building and are doing everything they can to bring it back to life. I for one will certainly be returning several times to see the building starting to live again. Their cleaner is a credit to them as the Hotel was spotlessly clean, all the staff are really friendly and helpful, the spa wonderful. Please visit this hotel to help them keep building the business and bringing the place back to its former glory. You wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with views over the valley.

We booked a last minute get away for £120 for 2 nights B&B with use of pool/leisure facilities. As far as customer service and atmosphere it is second to none. We were welcomed really warmly and Tom took our bags to our room. Had lovely room overlooking the garden and hillside. The place was spotlessly clean, gorgeous big towels (rare to get) and the bed was so comfortable. It was the best nights sleep ever in a hotel. The breakfasts were home cooked and filling. We ate both nights in the bar and the food was suburb, all home cooked and fresh. Really delicious. Elaine, Mike, Tom and Team were brilliant. Yes, it may appear to be tired in places and as explained up front they are slowly upgrading the building and gardens since there purchase in 2010 - no mean feat as the building is 15th century. It certainly made up for it in value for money, clean facilities, warm welcome/service and great food - it cannot be beaten. We will return for another stay especially in colder weather as the log fire was so cosy. Keep up the good work.

Loved it! Lots of character in this old building. One comment suggests its dark and dingy - depends on your taste - its dark because of the old wooden panelling on the walls but we thought it was cosy. Our room was a lovely size with a great view over the gardens and surrounding hills - we didnt have a bath (only a shower) something we never asked for on booking so asked if there was a room we could swap to with a bath. We were given the choice of 2 other rooms but as we didnt want to give up our view decided to stay put. The owner (I think) approached us later in the bar and offered us the use of the bath in one of the empty rooms - so we got our view and our bath. Our evening meal was reasonably priced and delicious, and there was plenty of it - we were very dissappointed not to be able to fit in a dessert!!! Our visit was cut short unexpectedly the next morning so didnt get to use the pool etc so cannot comment on them but we really enjoyed our stay and would recommmend a visit.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the garden have a large bay window

we had been to the red lion at burnsall and found it very much changed from our last visit there seemed more of a canteen fast food type of place so left there with out eating and stumbled over the harefield hall this was just the ticket above average bar food in a fantastic relaxing spot the staff was all very friendly and could not do enough for us the girl we found out later ( Holly ) had just started that day well done you

I understand that the owners had bought this place a couple of years ago in a bit of a run down state and are putting the profits back in to the hotel can not see how they can fail with the standards we saw
