“Nice old ruin”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013 via mobile

We've walked up to the castle countless times through wepre park and always enjoy it. There's an information board to read that gives an overview of the history of the castle. You can walk up the stairs to the top which the kids enjoy. It's a nice place to walk dogs or have picnics.

“Ruined Old Castle.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

Not much to see here really. It's an old Welsh ruined castle, which was built by the Welsh princes in the last stand before King Edward's conquest. So it's worth seeing for that reason. You can climb the last of the ramparts and gaze out onto the surrounding woods. There is a nice 1-mile walk down to Wepre Park, Connah's Quay, from the castle, following the Wepre Brook. There's a visitor centre at Wepre Park, with refreshments and toilet facilities, etc. no parking at or near Ewloe Castle, except on the Northophall road a quarter of a mile away in a lay-by. Best plan is to park free at Wepre Park and walk the mile to the castle. It's very pleasant.
