Owner description: Space is limited each day to 650 people, but it is well-worth the visit. The site is 5,000 years old, which makes it older than the pyramids. Historians was once believed Newgrange was a passage tomb, but now is believed to be an ancient temple.

“A Must See”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Visiting Newgrange and Knowth was well worth extending our 2 week trip to Ireland to include these sights. The visitor center and tours of the sights are excellent and well done.

“A real step back in time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012 via mobile

A great place to visit and a really nice visitors centre. You can stroll at your leisure through the centre and have a designated time for a mini bus to the sights itself, tours are extremely interesting and intimate.

“Warm Clothes and raincoats a must”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

This is an incredibly old site. We were impressed.
On a wet and miserable day there was no problem with getting a ticket. Believe me you need warm clothes and raincoats as most of the tour is outdoors.
When you do go into the passage of the tomb/temple it is very tight - not for claustrophobes!
The guide was informative although a little difficult to hear over the noise of the rain on umbrellas and the wind!
We visited in Sept and (surprise) it was wet in Ireland. It is a fair walk from the car park to the visitor centre and then you have to ride one of their busses to the site itself.
