My first experience of the Hidden Valley Day Spa was a relatively good one. The location is lovely, nestled in the Perth hills and surrounded by bush land. The building itself is not striking - its in a remodeled circa 1970's brick bungalow - but the massage received was certainly of a high standard. My massage therapist Melinda was very professional and the hot stone treatment I received was wonderfully executed. The only major complaint I have is that the spa treatment rooms are right next to the reception so you never quite get that peaceful ambiance needed in order to totally relax. It's hard to block out the world when doors are constantly opening and closing and chatter from the reception can be clearly heard in the treatment room. The music piped into the room whilst pleasant ended up clashing with the sounds coming from the office across the small hallway. Following my treatment however I was taken back into the front arrival lounge and given a fruit and cheese plate accompanied by a champagne cocktail (mixed with orange juice). This was a delightful way to finish my 80 minutes of pampering. If management reconsiders the location of the reception separate from the treatment rooms then this place would become the perfect bush retreat for those wanting to escape the rat race for a day... or two.
