We started out thinking we might camp in the yard at Up the Creek, but it was way more fun - and more comfortable - staying inside. The private room was perfect with our five-year-old, who is already looking forward to next year when she will be 6 and old enough to sleep on the top bunk! Loved the hammocks, the games & puzzles, the kids craft corner, the kitchen and hospitality. Thanks for a great three nights.

I booked Up the Creek looking for affordable accommodation close to a great mountain biking area in Roberts Creek. It turned out to be much more than I anticipated. A friendly welcome from the great staff who were informative about the local attractions and where to go mountain biking, and even came to ride with me. The trails near Chris Gilker park off the B&K FSR are so much fun, talk about grin factor!
The rooms were clean and comfortable and the kitchen, dining and living areas made it so easy to relax and interact with other guests as well as to cook up a feast on the barbecue.
I particularly loved relaxing in the hammocks on the porch and soaking up the sun with a beer post ride.
The Gumboot restaurant a short walk down the road also comes highly recommended for breakfast and for dinner!
Great location for beach access, hiking and biking.
I'll be back for sure.

This place is cozy, clean, convenient, friendly - delightful in every way. I stayed in the women's dorm. The bunks are small but comfortable for a reasonably sized person. The location is quiet and extraordinarily beautiful. It is about one mile from the famous Gumboot restaurant area with yummy natural/local/organic food and another 5 minutes walk takes you to the beach. Nearby Cliff Gilkey park is gorgeous. I give the whole experience here my highest recommendations.

Hey travelers,
Up the Creek is a very cool and affordable place to stay at. Martin is a great host: he masters the difficult art of making you feel at home and at the same time he lets you be. A rare quality. We'll be back for sure!

Martin was a fantastic host; Very laid back and also very attentive. He was able to give us advice, directions and was very supportive of our (ambitious) goal to run the April Fools Half Marathon the morning after our stay. It's a short walk to a lovely restaurant (The Gumboot), the general store and to the coast where we saw a gorgeous sunset. Highlights of the accomodations were using the hot tub in the back, relaxing in hammocks on the front porch and playing board games while drinking tea in front of a proper wood fire. The other thing that really stood out was the emphasis on recycling and composting - very green!! We had a wonderful weekend and plan to go back very soon!!

I came out to Roberts Creek to get away from the hustle and bustle of Downtown Vancouver and it was exactly what I was after. Martin has kept Up the Creek very well maintained and it was a very friendly environment to step into. It was much like a family environment, which was nice, considering I've been away from mine for quite a while. After being in Canada for 7 months, I'm going back to Australia next week. It's places like this, that make me which I wasn't.
I really hope I get another chance to come out here.

I came to Roberts Creek to search for a little peace and quiet after a hectic month traveling Canada, and Up The Creek was exactly the kind of place I was looking for. The owner (Martin) was a very welcoming fellow Brit, who has transformed a house into the perfect little backpackers getaway. If you like small, clean, friendly retreats, this is the place for you. You're bound to meet some like-minded characters also.
