“Breathtaking Views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

Breath taking views. Room was nice, very clean. Staff helpful and friendly. Food was nice but not amazing selection. Would defintely visit again with family just for the beautiful surroundings. There was a path which was set out for walkers that were not serious walkers! It was 2km there and back and worth a walk as great views. Defintely recommend.

I travelled one week along the old Midnightsun route from Alta (Norway) to Piteå (Sweden) to make some video shootings and during the trip in the almost the middle of nowhere we met this nice place. We stayed in a cabin at the camping site and quality ratio/price was optimum.
The hotel staff was very kind and breakfast tasteful even tough not so rich in choices.
The view from the dining hall is terrific with the magnificent flowing of the rapids, called Storforsen, created by the river Piteå. Besides, the hotel the place offer an interesting itinerary about 2.5 km long track to visit the rapids and a local open air museum dedicated to old wood-houses. In summertime, old woodworkers belonging to Norbotten Museum association offer a show to explain how charcoal was made...
By the end, it's a place to be visited at least 2 day to recharge one's mood from city's stress....
Coming soon a video also about this lovely place in the nature...stay tuned on [--]

We have visited Hotell Storforsen on 2 occasions. The first time we booked both a hotel room, and ate at the restaurant. The second time we used only the restaurant. Both experiences were first class and we highly recommend this hotel for either purpose. Despite it's relatively remote location, the hotel is in high demand year round, so booking are advised. Especially for the restaurant. Eat there once and you will understand why. Beautifully presented meals from kitchen staff who clearly know what they are doing. Service was prompt and friendly. Tables were clean and all had a view of the fabulous white waters which are the drawcard of the location. Our stay in the hotel was equally enjoyable. The rooms are not especially large, but functional and very clean. We had booked a room with our pet, and when we arrived there was a dog bed and some welcome dog biscuits waiting for her in the room. A very nice touch and illustrates the level of care that Hotell Storforsen goes to for it's customers. Overall, this is one of the top hotels in the region, and one of the better in Sweden.

This is a remote fantastic wilderness area, The hotel is next to a fantastic watefalls and a frozen lake. I was up there for four months with work and thought it was fantastic. The hotel is bright, clean and the staff lovely. The food is very good if a little bland. The rooms are very good to, I did enjoy my stay.

Room Tip: All are good

We stayed here for 2 nights in June 2011 on our way back from North Cape. The staff were very polite and helpful which is more than I can say for Jokkmokk Information Centre staff who were no help at all. We initailly booked for 1 night but decided to have a day off from driving and stayed 2. Admitted it is in the middle of nowhere but the scenery is marvellous. There had been quite a bit of rain the day before so the rapids were really outstanding and there were plenty of paths to walk round as well as the outdoor museum. The hotel was very clean and the room we had was large with twin beds, a sitting area with views of the rapids and a good sized bathroom. The breakfast was excellent and they also served evening meals. There was a footpath accross to the waterfall and a small cafe and gift shop.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back overlooking the rapids

My husband and I spent one night at the hotel in the beginning of july. The weather was perfect. The sun was shining and it was light during the whole night. The room was big and regular standard. the beds were soft but too narrow for my taste. We had a perfect view from the room and there was a small balcony to enter and enjoy the environment. The food and cleaning was excellent.

Hotel Storforsen is basically in the middle of the wilderness. It is a modern, well-outfitted hotel. Our room was actually a mini-suite and had views of the waterfall from the window and our balcony. Unfortunately we could not open that window because of the mosquito season and lack of screens, but the beauty of the falls was not diminished by having to look through the glass.
There were not a lot of options for meals nearby, but the food at the hotel was adequate. There were plenty of free parking, free WiFi, and a hearty breakfast included in the rate. We were really happy to have found this lovely place with such an exquisite location.
