“Looks better and grander than it really is”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2012

The hotel looks grand on the photos, but the actual experience does not live up to the first impressions.

My room was on the 3rd floor (the lift only goes as far as the second). While the furniture was very new and in good condition, the room was let down by the fact that it didn't have a window. Yes, no window! There was a tiny little skylight in the ceiling, which has a shutter centrally controlled by the hotel. The skylight shutter opened around dawn, which therefore meant that the room was flooded with light, and helped to disturb my sleep.

The walls were paper thin, and offered absolutely no sound protection from our neighbours what so ever. Luckily our neighbours went to bed at the same time as us.

The hotel bar and restaurant both close at 9pm. There is a good pizzeria that is open later at the end of the hotel drive.

The receptionist was very un-welcomining and unhelpful. When we asked him where was the nearest restaurant he said we would have to drive into the nearby town, and didn't even mention the pizzeria that he could see from the reception desk.

The breakfast buffet was presentable, but nothing to get excited about.

I would not stay there again. The only reason I would potentially consider recommending it to anybody is that it is very close to Campiano airport, so if you have a very early or very late flight, then the location might be advantageous.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 1st or 2nd floor, to stand more chance of having a window!

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, I made our booking of this hotels by the reviews, and up to now have never been disappoint ,tell now, yes the hotel has very nice marble floors, the staff not so much, the bathroom has black mold in the shower/ tub , we did not have hot water, and when we asked they told us that they could not reach the person to fix , .? The breakfast really only offers coffee, juice that is very watered down, and dry bread and hard boil eggs, so dont except much . The rooms are cleaned half way and it shows. The hotel has a restaurant , we had dinner 1 time , the food was soooooo salty that we could not eat, the watriss does not speak English so you really can not tell her, when we told her to bill are room we were told that it does not belong to the hotel, they did give us a discount , but we really just wanted to let them no how bad it was. There are places to eat near by and we found , I think the best food we ever had it was called Maria luisa maybe 10min walk. So if you plan to stay here think of it as a 2 star hotel with just nice marble.
And to mention our bags were gone trough. Nothing taken but gone trough.

Great hotel outside of Rome. Great accommodations if you have your own transportation to and from Rome of to and From the local train station. Elegant restaurant at reasonable prices for an exceptional meal. Marble everywhere which makes the sound travel into the room from the halls. Disturbing at night. Staff very helpful and courteous. Easy to get around once you travel in the area. Would stay there again and again

This hotel, to sum it up, is "okay". Staff friendly, hotel and rooms clean, didn't get a nice view at all but we were hardly in the room anyway. The food however was spot on. We are both 22 and didn't find the walk up the hill from the train station too bad, apart from the stray German shepherd wandering about!! Definately wouldn't recommend it to any lone rangers! Didn't pay much at all for the hotel so we felt that we got what we paid for, and for the money would've probably got a 2* in Rome, but would defo spend the extra money and stay in the centre if we went again, due to the absolutely useless train system!

I just love this hotel. Rally nice, friendly people at the front desk, nice area around the hotel and great food! Although I spent at Domus Ceasari only 1 night I really enjoyed it. Wonderful breakfast, variety of choices. Will definiately come there again.

From the hill top, this hotel has a beautiful view of the city of Rome. We rented a car with full coverage at FCO Airport, a GPS is a must when driving in Italy. The city of Marino has the charm of the old Country. Domus Caesari has free parking, an English speaking friendly, helpful staff, a good breakfast, beautiful spacious bedrooms, neat and clean. Also, the courtyard is surrounded by olive trees. Our two night stay was not long enough for such a nice place. Next trip, we plan to stay at least a week at Domus Caesari.
