“Relaxing, cozy but a little dirty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014

We have been to Lido di Ostia and Pontile di Ostia during our trip to Rome. We wanted to see how the seaside outside the town is and since the place was the closest (easy accessible my train with a 1,5 euro ticket) we decided to give it a try. Pontile di Ostia is a very nice bridge, full of teenagers and couples, situated in the middle of the beach.
We spent there a great relaxing afternoon after the car horns and loud voices of Rome.
The only issue is the cleanliness of the place: at every 3 metres you can see bags from McDonald's or Hamburger boxes, beer cans and so on.

It is quite small, but cozy and if you catch one of the many days with sun - your batteries will be instantly recharged.

“Nice side trip from Ostia Antica”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

We learned about the Ostia Lido area when researching for our day trip to Ostia Antica (OA) to visit the ruins. It's on the same train line in the direction of Cristoforo Colombo, and only a couple of stops from OA. We went there after visiting OA using the same public transport day pass for Rome, got off at Lido Central and went looking for the pier that jutted out to sea. It was very enjoyable strolling around the pier and vicinity. Looked like no traffic was allowed on the road in front of the pier and there're families out with children enjoying their Sunday afternoon. Didn't stay long because black clouds were on the horizon. Glad we took the time to go for a short visit. We saw no swimmers but we read that most of the beaches were privately owned and we saw many little stalls on the beach that must be for rent. The sandy beaches did not look clean, maybe it's the color of the sand.

“Beautiful pier, beautiful views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We went down to the Pontile di Ostia at daybreak. The views were beautiful. You could see down both oceanfronts.
