“Nice little restaurant. This is a restaurant not a Frascheteria”
I was walking with my wife in the streets o Ariccia on a chilled Friday night. I had already sampled a frascheteria for lunch and wanted to eat more substantial food at a restaurant. Found it at Osteria del Gusto, it is a nice little restaurant in an alley. Actually I was looking at the menu when a local lady walking in the street stopped to tell me that it is a good restaurant. I took the suggestion lightly and enteres. We ordered a bottle of chianti reserva and a large bottle of water, as starters a mixed of antipasti, together with a steak and cheese filled pasta parcels for mains. The mix of apitizers was beautifully presented and was good, but not great ( I expect to have some fresh cheese or bufola and one item with filo pastry is enough). It consisted of a number of filled filo pastry, salamis and vegetables roulades. There is imagination however, and I believe that this young chef has a lot of potential for the future. The meat was cooked perfectly and seasoned with rock salt, herbs and oil. The wife's pasta was superlative. It had an inventive sauce that consisted of cream pear, potatoes and carrots with a julien of vegetables. The pasta was home made and filled with a ricotta like cheese. At the end we were offered a nice gulp of Grappa and home made pastry (very light, fresh and delicious) on the house! With regards to service the waiter was very polite, educated and showed a keen interest in providing us with a good service, even though we were foreigners. Price - Decent all of the above with coffees EUR63
