“Great base to visit Agra and surrounding areas!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013 via mobile

Firstly I would like to dispel the myth that Fatehpur Sikri is a day trip from Agra, for me it's the other way around! By staying in Fatehpur Sikri and travelling in you get to have a peaceful evening and you avoid the touts! You also get the joy of staying with the most customer focussed people in all India.
The staff are all friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean and the food is great. You are also so close to the old buildings that you can take an evening stroll and get to enjoy them in all lights.
We stayed there for 4 nights and returned for another 3 post Ranthambore. Truly a wonderful stay. Thank you all.

We only stayed one night in Hotel Goverdhan, but we really enjoyed it. The staff were really friendly and helpful from the beginning - even when we were planning our trip they gave us advice and warned us of touts and what to be aware of when travelling in India. We were also able to liaise with them about times of arrival and how best to get to the hotel etc.
When we arrived, they showed us our room and gave us time to rest and relax before booking in, which was much appreciated after our journey. The complex is quiet and nicely presented - the gardens are lovely. Our room was basic, but very comfortable and clean and quiet.
We ate at the hotel the evening we arrived and the staff were willing to make recommendations and explain things on the menu that we weren't sure of. The food was really tasty and home cooked. There was a feeling that the staff were really trying to be welcoming and make our stay as pleasant as possible. We also ate breakfast there and this too was really lovely. It was great to be able to eat outside facing the lovely gardens.
When we were leaving, the staff agreed for us to leave our luggage whilst we did some sight-seeing and gave us advice on when and where to catch the bus back to Agra and how much this would be.
We really enjoyed our stay here and wished we could have stayed longer. It's well worth a trip to Fatehpur Sikri when you're travelling in India and this is a really great place to stay. We'd definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed upstairs which is probably a bit quieter as you're further away from the kitchen and t...

First and foremost, it's not a hotel, one may call it a guest house but it's a serious let down for travellers who are looking for some kind of luxuries with star facilities.
Why Govardhan Tourist Complex: Its right at the footstep of the only attraction in the town, the Buland Darwaza- Jodhabai Palace complex,
The Owners are very warm and ensure every effort to make you feel home, we especially loved the gesture when an indian preparation was served during the dinner complimentary which was prepared by the owner himself.
It has a nicely done small lawn right in front of the rooms,
But the best what i liked was the fact that the owner, Mr Saurabh Garg was waiting at the main entrance while we were getting late in the night on our way to the place from Jaipur, I got delighted to see a small boy handling over a red rose as soon as we entered the premises, I simply loved it.
The staff is courteous, and ask for the meals on their own, never witnessed even a single incidence of any misbehaviour with us or any other guests during our stay.
Food is just palatable but as you don't have any other options in the town, you better have them here only.
Rooms are clean, and the one given to us was moderately big, and i liked the fact that it already had an extra bed as i had requested before we checked in.
Property seems to be safe, though it remains open most of the time from the front.
On the minus side, The place has a Bad electricity setup, whether it is Power back up, or the electricity fittings.
I stayed here for two nights, we all were extremely tired after a long trip, and boy, i had bad sleep on both the nights. The Power keeps coming and going which i can easily identify with because i share the same state with Sikri, but there are NO inverter connections to the fans, you will literally wake up due to heat and will have to walk down to the reception, wake up the guy there and ask him to start the generator, the same night it happened one more time when the boy at the reception told that due to the long run of generator he had to turn it off, fortunately the power supply appeared and we could sleep thereafter.
While on the first night, the ceiling fan was sounding horribly which was fixed the next morning after complaint, only for the new issue to let in the following night :)
My washroom didn't have an inverter connection either, imagine the lady who is taking bath gets a sudden light off and an absolutely dark washroom,,,,,,,,, There is no exhaust in the washroom and the exhaust set on the window of the room was nonfunctional, we had to keep the windows open to let the fresh air come in. Immediately after a 5 Star stay in Jaipur, it was probably a little too much for us.
Nevertheless if the problems related to the power are sorted out, the place is friendly and homely.
The Ceiling Starry night and the candle light dinner were cute.
Overall 3 stars for the place , a half for the owner's efforts and a Heart for Saurabh :)
Travellers Watch out : The guides take you to a place in The Dargah where Sheets are sold that are offered to the saint's Shrine, I wonder if these guides have a share in what you pay to those sellers.

We enjoyed staying here. Our room was clean, the staff were friedly and helpful and the proprieter provided good advice on places to see in Fatehpur Sikri. The location is ideal for the mosque and palace too. There's also a good restaurant on site with a good choice of meals.

We chose this hotel because of the location and the positive reviews here, and we were not disappointed. The facilities are fairly basic, but the room was spacious and immaculately clean, the food was fresh and tasty, and the service was both friendly and helpful. The owners clearly care about ensuring that guests have a positive experience. But the real reason to stay here is the location. Being able to walk to the palace complex first thing in the morning, before the tour groups arrived by bus from Agra, was wonderful.

For a very reasonable price you get a basic, clean room. The location is excellent - only 5 minutes walk to the Royal Palace and Jama Masjid. The manager was very helpful and courteous - he organised a car for a day trip to Agra, as well as organising an auto-rickshaw for our onward travel.
The only negative I would say is the food in the restaurant - it was extremely salty and swimming in ghee, after the first day we only ordered the plainest food we could.
Overall I would recommend this place for a night or two.

Read a few good reviews and decided to book accommodation at this hotel and wasn't disappointed. It's a small yet sincere place, the hotel owners are nice people. Pretty clean and food is good too. However, portions are smaller than what you'd expect. Simple and memorable is how my family and I will remember our stay here. Definitely recommended!
