My wife and I avoid guided tours. We'd rather miss some of the details but take in the atmosphere. This didn't work at Fatehpur Sikri. From the moment our driver let us out at the car park until we reached the site (about 1.5 km away), we were pestered by kids, grabbing onto us and asking for (in this order) school pens, chewing gum, and money. Once we got to the mosque, we were besieged by guides. We didn't have a moment to ourselves, and left. There is no option of walking by oneself here.
