“Enjoyable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Extremely clean and very spacious room. Great stay. It was quiet and enjoyable. Breakfast was plentiful with a nice variety and was nice and hot at 6:00am. The building is new and in a good location. My only issue is that the treadmill in the fitness centre needs to be adjusted for a faster tread speed. The hotel was quiet and very presentable, and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommend this hotel.

Which is both good and not so good. I travel a lot for business and I try to always stay at Hampton Inns. There are never any surprises at a Hampton and when you travel for business that is a good thing.

My mom recently retired to Elliot and I'm up visiting her for Xmas and decided to stay at the local Hampton and it is like every other Hampton in Canada and the US I've stayed in.

Friendly staff, clean quiet rooms, decent breakfast, free Internet, modern functional EVERYTHING.

So if you want something that reflects the North and its unique charms this isn't the place for you. If you want a comfortable, consistent, and reasonably priced place to stay look no further!

Two thumbs up from this tired traveler!

PS: Written at the Hampton using their free WiFi!

Room Tip: They are all VERY similar because it is a Hampton. The front rooms face the highway but the buildin...

Experience
Over 12 stays at the Hampton Inn Elliot Lake since it opened in 2008 as a guest travelling for business.

Description
New, clean and modern hotel located on Hwy 108 in Elliot Lake, ON located next to McDonalds. There is ample free parking, and easy access by foot to walking trails that follow Horne Lake. The hotel is a two minute drive to Sheriff Creek Wildlife Sanctuary, Reel 2 Reel movie theatre, and a number of restaurants. Although the hotel is not equipped with a restaurant, it does offer a free breakfast that consists of coffee, tea, juices, cereals, yogurt, fruit, pastries, waffles, and usually three hot dishes (this last stay was scrambled eggs, sausages, and French toast). It is not luxurious, but most people will be able to find something to satiate their hunger. Staff are helpful and will try to accommodate you if they can- a breakfast area staff was kind enough to find me a banana on a recent stay. If you’re in a hurry, or would prefer a take-away breakfast, you can grab a free brown bag breakfast (available at the front desk) which usually contains a bottle of water, mints, muffin, granola bar, and fruit. There is a free coffee/tea/hot chocolate station open 24/7 beside the reception desk.

The hotel is equipped with a clean pool suitable for short laps, or floating around, as well as a fitness room. There are no showers or change rooms near the fitness area so be sure to bring flip-flops and a cover-up. The fitness room has one of each of the main cardio machines (some have built in fans), wall mounted LCD TV, a wall mounted upper extremity weight machine, weighted balls, exercise mats, water cooler, and towels- the treadmill can be a bit touchy due to the emergency stop buttons and controls on its handrails so be careful.

The two queen bed, non-smoking room is equipped with two comfortable beds, with a comforter and 3 pillows. There is a small desk and office chair, a luggage table, and a TV console with a large LCD TV. The room also comes with a laptop tray for use in bed, and free Wi-Fi is included in the room rate. In the closet you’ll find an ironing board and iron, and an extra blanket. The Wi-Fi is typically reliable but can be slow at times. Reception will give you a code on your room key holder when you check in. To access the internet, enable Wi-Fi, go to internet explorer, enter the Hilton guest website. Select “complimentary guest access”, enter your last name and room number. You will only need to do this once during your stay (and perhaps even for the next few stays).

The bathroom is clean, but is not equipped with a fan so the room steams up during showers. A hair dryer is provided. Water pressure is adequate, and if you’re tall, you can change the shower head’s settings. The hotel provides shampoo and conditioner but they are of mediocre quality so it may be best to bring your own if you have medium to long hair. The moisturizer is highly perfumed, but is otherwise acceptable. Reception staff are very kind and will provide emergency toiletries if you’ve forgotten something, or need an extra pillow or two.

Overall, this is excellent hotel in Elliot Lake recommended for business, couples, and solo travel.

Tips:
Reserve early to get a room- rooms go fast.
If you book early enough online (4-6 months ahead), you'll be able to get a "room with a view". Rooms on the left side of the building (facing Horne Lake) have a better view of Horne Lake. Request a room at the end of the hall- the elevator "dings" and can be disruptive if you are in bed early.

This is an excellent place to stay. Everything is brand new, staff is friendly, and the eating area has a lovely patio with a view of the water. The complimentary hot breakfast was also very good, and the fresh make-your-own waffles were a bonus. No complaints.

We spent the night at the Hampton Inn on February 12th, 2012. I was very surprised to find out how wonderful this location is. Staff very friendly and helpful. Loved the modern decor of the room and lobby. Room was exceptionally clean, bed very comfortable and lots of room. Excellent value and superb hot breakfast in the am. I have stayed at other accomdations in the region and this one is the best! Keep up the good work, I will definately be back!

Room Tip: i would recommend booking early, I can see how this place would fill up quickly during peak season.

If this place was in a big city, they'd be booked solid every day of the year. Great staff, excellent rooms, fall colours on the lake side are awesome right now - September is _the_ time to stay here!

Room Tip: On the lake side - you have to get a lake side room for the view!

Great place to stay! Hotel was very welcoming and clean. We enjoyed a complimentary hot breakfast on the lobby level outdoor patio. The salt water pool was the icing on the cake. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this hotel.
