“slots good variety , food not good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

Have been going to this casino for years but stop eating their , the buffet lunch & dinner is overprice for the food they serve. very cheap slections, not much on the dessert table and ice cream is not good . the only thing is the salad bar is okay . You can go to the Mandarin for lunch at only $12.99 and get great variety and food choices also their salad bar , fresh fruit is awesom & lots of desserts .
The casino has very clean bathrooms & lots of free coffee, free pop. even when you have a sandwich which is the best, the coffee is free at the bar.
The shuttle bus is always sitting by the doors not looking to pick people up . when I go to Ajax
casino the bus comes up & down looking for people when they out of their car.
but I go because I enjoy the slots always win a little

“Great for gamblers, don't go for the food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

The GBH charity casino is very basic, two large "plastic" tents (one with gaming tables and restaurant area and another with slots). It is about a one hour drive from Toronto east and north.

Having been a patron since it opened fifteen years ago I have not seen many changes.

Customer service is not a priority, in fact they seem to go out of their way to invent rules to make your life difficult (and that are not in the customers favour).

The restaurant area offers a buffet or menu choice and my experience is that the food is pretty bad. The buffet "salad" is acceptable but hot stuff normally sits too long and is not appetizing. My preference is a sandwich at the bar which is fresh and reasonably priced. About every three months they raise the prices and decrease the selection (especially deserts). Those who donate to their slots and some table games receive "comps" which can be used toward food purchases but others must pay the full cost. The lunch buffet is extremely overpriced at about $13 plus tax and tip (while it should be around $8).

The slot area is quite crowded and noisy.

They do offer "limit" Texas Holdem poker and limit Omaha both with a "kill". The action is very good but due to their policy of not bringing new dealers in and their reduction in tables to only ten there are long wait times depending on your timing. You are best to call their poker room and then have one and a half hours travel time after your name is put on the wait list. Minimum stakes are $5-10 and normally $20-40 as the high). Customer service is iffy at best, depends on who and the concern. Poker players are not "comped" for playing.

Parking is very adequate and they have a shuttle that will pick you up and drop you back to your car.

They offer all the usual table games plus roulette but no craps. Being a charity casino the maximum bet (I believe) is $100 so serious gamblers normally go to the regular casinos.

If you just want an evening out and some gaming action it does meet your needs,

After about a 10 minute drive off the highway you will find a mid sized casino that has quite a few slot machines but thats about it.
Not a place we go on a regular basis,

“Buffet is okay but selection and parking not so good.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Parking lot was packed with cars and shuttle not running. Buffet selection was just okay and selection was small compared to Rama casino.
