“A Very Special Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2011

We have come here for special occasions many times - both as a couple & with friends. As it is a small hotel there is a limited availability for dining but we have always managed by booking ahead - well worth it. From entering the house (it feels like coing to dine in a lovely country house) & being welcomed you feel immediately relaxed & 'at home'. What we like is that you come away feeling you've had a lovely whole evening, not just a meal & away again.
Service is staggered so you receive full attention & before & after there are lovely areas to relax in with a pre-dinner drink & afterwards with coffee. In winter there are two cosy open fires to relax beside & in summer beautiful Border views to admire.
The food is imaginative & beautifully presented - great local ingredients.
We love eating out & have many favourite local places but for that very special night out we always choose to return here.
We look forward to returning soon for my birthday treat. If we lived further away we'd love to stay as the house is so beautiful.
