“Gullfoss - beauty at its best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2014

part of the Golden Circle, the Gullfoss is beauty at its best... nice quiet roar of its ice and water gushing down from the mountain....
its ice barely breaking its own glacier as it breaks away from it and gush down to the fall and to the river below

view from the top is better from bottom

“Scenic waterfalls on the 'Golden Circle' trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2014

The location is lovely, and the waterfall itself is pretty spectacular, so definitely worth a visit. If visiting in summertime, take the time to walk around and explore the surroundings. Do *not* go beyond the rope barriers not just for conservation reasons but also because it can be slippery and dangerous. Also, unless money is no object, forget about the gift store, which is predictably even more expensive than already-pricey average Icelandic prices. If you go on an organised tour, buy your day's rations from Bonus or perhaps 1011 supermarkets instead!

“Well worth the climb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2014

Truly amazing natural wonder and the meat stew in the cafe afterwards rounds off the trip nicely. Try not to go on a very windy day as I understand some people couldn't get down to the water nor could they hold their cameras still enough to take photos.

“Astounding Nature”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2014

The landscape is stunning. We saw it in January and it was windy and very icy. I would suggest bringing snow cleats that you can buy at any outdoor store to put on your shoes or boots if you travel in the winter months. I would also suggest a good solid insulated windbreaker with a hood. It'll make for a safer and more enjoyable visit.
