“Friendly and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

A little difficult to find (nobody seems to know where el Jadida street is) but the place is clean, comfortable and friendly with wifi and beer. Maybe a little expensive compared to other places in Morocco but it feels secure and welcoming.

The place is OK if you are looking for a really basic B&B. But you should know that the "charming host" runs a cancellation policy that you'd expect to find in a luxury style hotel. Having originally planned for four nights, we decided after the second night to cut the stay one day short and asked the host if it was OK. After some discussion he agreed reluctantly (sulkingly, actually) but at departure the morning after we were billed for the night anyway with the arguments that "such are the rules" and "you didn't ask about payment". If we were prepared to pay for an unused room, why would we then ask permission the day before ? Had we known that we would have to pay full price before the suitcase was acually packed, we might have balanced this against our wish to leave early. I don't as such mind the extra expense (although it's funny that the laid-back atmosphere only goes so far) but it's unfair not to be given the choice.

Great triple room close to town and beach(too cold just yet!) Had dinner one night there which was well worth it. Good advice from owner Patick.

Xanadu was a lovely place to stay in a quiet neighboorhood of Sidi Ifni, relaxing and welcoming.
A large room with a large bathroom - no heating or TV, but there's a salon downstairs with books, a computer, music etc. Breakfast was served on an open air terrace, and it was possible to order dinner in the evening - we tried camel and couscous on our first night - our first taste of camel and it was delicious. The portions were huge, and served with a lovely sauce and a home-made raison chutney. Patrick was a great host, very welcoming, always on hand to ask if we'd had a good day, or slept well and very helpful in providing information about getting around the area.

Room Tip: We liked the room on the top floor - it's the only room up there (next to the kiitchen) so it wa...

Everything is of good taste in this very relaxed place in a very relaxed town. The host, Patrick, is very informative and welcoming. A real gentle man. Breakfast and dinner are very good, too. We had a spectacular day out with a guide and driver he recommended us. We went to Plage Blanche for a 4x4 drive we won't easily forget. Especially the exhilerating drive on the beach only a couple,of meters from the surf was unforgettable, and we had a great lunch in a fisherman's hut. Don't try this yourself though...

Charming, little place in a hidden Sidi Ifni neighbourhood! We stayed at Patrick's for two days in mid-December 2011 and liked the laid-back atmosphere of Maison Xanadu. The rooms are nicely decorated and functional, the attached bath room clean and spacious. We had our breakfast on the roof-side terrace and enjoyed listening to the birds and the sound of awakening Ifni. Patrick is a wonderful host, who is helpful with recommendations, the dinner Said prepared for us in the open kitchen was among the best we had in two weeks in Southern Morocco. Go for it, I rather would have stayed there then returning home:)

Patrick, Sandrine & Paul (their 9 y old son) warmly welcomed us (couple and 3 y old child) in this elegant riad (5 guest rooms and private quarters) in the centre of surprisingly charming Sidi Ifni. Said's a great co-host and cook and Fatima provides a superb French-Moroccan breakfast every morning after a good night's sleep in a good bed.
Respect for the local economy and integration into the social context are guiding principles for Patrick & c°, who live in Xanadu on a permanent basis. We loved this spot and its owners & staff for what they did and how they keep on doing it. Respect!
