“Hidden Gem for tasty food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Have eaten here once in the main restaraunt and on two or three occasions in the bar. Food is always great ALWAYS, although the woman serving us on the last two occassions really could do with a personality transplant. Slamming food down on tables, not speaking to customers, sighing because she had to serve us a drink. older woman with blonde hair - only let down of the night.

Stayed here for just a single night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were very polite and could not have been more helpful. Although the room was one of those without a view (the staff clearly informed me of this when I was booking) it was well kept and clean, had a great shower and the cooked breakfast in the morning was one of the best I have ever had. Highly recommended!

Stayed 1 night only in room 3. Can't fault location or the food. Only down side was the room was tiny and the bed is the hardest I have ever slept on. Mattresses are all new so they may get softer. I can normally sleep anywhere but in the morning the wife and I both had bad backs. Staff great and the steak and Guinness pie the best I have had. Smoked haddock breakfast was lush!!

We stayed at the Ship Inn over Christmas 2012, whist visiting family nearby. The town had been flooded the night before we arrived and access was difficult at first. However the hotel kept in touch with us and when the police gave the all clear, we were able to book in, as the hotel itself was not damaged. A nice room wth a lovely view over the harbour. Good breakfasts/meals and very pleasant staff. The manager Simon was particularly helpful and allowed us to book another night at late notice because of family circumstances. We would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: Room 12 has a beautiful view of the harbour.

£70 B&B is great value for these rooms, flat screen TV great bathroom good shower, right on the harbour front.
Staff very friendly good hartey breakfast.
To say I only stayed here because I could not get a room in Aberdeen. Next time I will book here, it's better!

We had a one-night stay here early Dec 2012 to save us the drive home after celebrating our wedding anniversary and our son's birthday at another local establishment. We had chosen a double room at the front of the hotel overlooking the harbour and the view was perfect, especially as the sun was rising in the morning. While not hugely spacious, it was very comfortable with a good bathroom en-suite. The choice at breakfast was wide and well prepared and we very much enjoyed our short stay. Well worth a visit, or a longer stay if you want to explore the North-East from a comfortable, homely base that avoids the higher costs of Aberdeen (20 minutes drive away).

Room Tip: Pay a wee bit more for a room at the front.

We had a double room at the rear of the Hotel although nice and comfortable but it was noisy from the air conditioning coming from the kitchen / bar. The room was for small for two people and it only had one chair.
The room was very clean and well looked after.
The food in the restaurant was excellent and in particular the Steak and Guinness pie was absolutely brilliant.
The staff were both welcoming and helpful at all times.
We stayed over new year and the four course meal on new years eve was great as well as being reasonably priced.
The breakfasts had the usual full range of options to choose from both hot and cold with plenty of toast and coffee available.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the ship Inn as the place to stay in Stonehaven
