“Little Hidden paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2011

I am so pleased about this place, and so glad i picked it .It's close to the main attraction , restaurant s and shops. it's next to Villa Serena las galeras , but it is a private owned house from a lovely lady called Teresa Luisoni, who lives there since 20 years. She speaks german, perfect spanish , italian and english so it is very helpful if you speak another language .The place is wonderfully decorated with the sea theme , so you will find lovely shells and corals in your room .The room are very spacious and the shower is for big enough to fit two people . From the house you can just walk to the beach through the sea front which is just 2 minutes and from there you can go to playa rincon and other beaches that can be reached just by boat.
The breakfast is on the outside patio and it is very rich, with fruit , a gorgous tasty warm bread and organic honey but you can choose also the internation breakfast.I will definitely recommend this place for peace and quiet time , ecellent sleep at night and close to restaurant , bar and also a disco .

Thanks Theresa you have been brilliant host and also i am enjoying the noni tea .....xxx
Have a great time in Switzerland

I concur with the comments from the previous reviewer.

Pros:
-Well-located. Five minute walk from the center of town, you can either way via a private road, or the beach.
-Really beautiful, fragrant tropical flower garden overlooking the ocean. Incluedes hammocks, chairs, picnic tables, etc.
-Has free wi-fi.
-Owner Teresa is sweet and helpful.
-Different price tiers. We got the budget room, which is sort of a cabin/hut. It was only $25 a night. You can pay more and get rooms with views of the ocean, etc.
-Silent at night, you can hear the ocean.

Cons:
-Our room did not have hot water, and bed was a little small for two people. But, we could have paid more and had these things if we needed them.

We stumbled onto Casa Lotus and staying there turned our trip around - what a wonderful, magical place!

It was a holiday weekend in the DR and there was serious partying in the unit next to ours where we first stayed in Las Galeras, going at it hard and loud until 2:30 am. Two more nights of no sleep was not for us, so we moved on. Fortunately, we found Casa Lotus and we just loved it there.

A charming, comfortable room, porch with rocking chairs, yummy breakfast, beautiful garden with hammock and lounge chairs next to the ocean, a short walk to town along the water or along the road, a lovely little beach next door for swimming and all at a reasonable price. Our room was $75 for two and our neighbor paid $50 for just herself. There is also a cabana behind the house that has a budget room and an apartment, as well as a kitchen that can be used for $1.50/day. Worth it to keep the Presidentes cold. We had a potluck dinner the last night and the kitchen worked out quite well.

There are a couple of things to consider: the mattresses are foam and the sheets are not particularly high thread count, although we slept just fine. The water pressure is variable and the temperature rarely gets above warm. These were non-issues for us and I only mention them in the spirit of full disclosure.

Teresa, the owner, designed and built the house more than 20 years ago when she arrived in Las Galeras and it is a true labor of love. She was a great help finding a boat captain and taxi and recommending beaches and hikes.

Everyone we brought to Casa Lotus wished they were staying there. Trust me, you will love it!

Things not to miss - walk to La Playita, boat to Playa Fronton and whale watching, horseback ride to Playa Madama with Karin of the Hacienda, dinner at El Cabito and - just enjoy paradise...
