“Relax, recharge and revive.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

This was a one night escape for us to relax, recharge and revive. The Cluanie Inn hit all the right spots. My single room was bijou and well equipped. My friends on the other hand opted for a luxury double, this was an impressive room with a large flat screen TV and sitting area. Following delicious scallops and filet of venison we retired to this room to watch Strictly Come Dancing! It looks like a herd of red deer have adopted the hotel and have trained guests to feed them the complimentary biscuits through the room windows! A lovely river walk in Glenmoriston on Sunday sent us home in great spirits. PS our dogs loved the hotel, especially being allowed to join us for dinner in the bar.

We stayed overnight on the way to Skye. Comfortable, reasonably spacious, modern bedroom. Enjoyable evening meal cooked to order - more pub food than gastro. Excellent tasty breakfast. Overall - a most satisfactory experience and would stay there again. Only downside was that both real ales went off - the second as I ordered mine!

Room Tip: Due to location - there is Wi-Fi but it costs £3 for half an hour. The hosts have taken the trouble...

On route to Fort William from the Gairloch decided to call in for a very late lunch early diner. Very good selection and price for a place remote and out in the sticks. Fast efficient service, looks as if all the furniture is new and great quality great selection of whisky. The place looks well maintained great stop for meal. Looks like a hill walkers heaven. Will use again.

A neighbouring hotel was offering 3 nights for 3 B&B. I phoned the Inn and asked what they could offer. I was told by a frosty female voice - £4 per night deduction. They would continue to charge £10 per night for my 2 black labradors. The other hotel made no charge whatsoever.
Nonetheless, I completed an application for 3 nights on the Inn's website one month ago. I am still awaiting a reply!

A group of us have just returned from this remote inn in the middle of nowhere surrounded by big mountains. It's exactly what we went for - to climb Munros. It looks as though it's had a bit of money spent on it lately - the furniture all seems fairly new and is very solid and chunky. The bedrooms are well appointed. The bar is great and also caters for a fair bit of passing trade. The dinners are just bar food off the bar menu but quite acceptable.

On the negative side I could do without the constant piped music throughout the bar and dining room from morning to night and the owners infant children crawling all round the floor and playing with their toys in the public rooms were frankly a nuisance and not what you want. And while it's very remote it is on a main road and the occasional car passes in the night.

Ultimately it suited our group of mountaineers but I wouldn't take my wife there - not sophisticated enough for her.

Room Tip: The club house is nearer the road than the rooms in the main part of the hotel

Perfect location to access the hills in and around Kintail. Transfer service arranged by the hotel ( for a small fee) to leave cars at the end of the ridge walks in Glen Shiel (worth every penny at the end of a long day on the hills!) Food is decent pub grub - tasty, generous portions. Rooms are newly decorated, fresh, comfortable and clean. The family seem to work hard to care for their guests and maintain a good standard of service and presentation. Special mention to the waitress who shows a genuine interest in the well being of her customers. We will be back!

This is a "wayside inn" and one principally serving the outdoors community on that front it is everything one needs and hence the rating. Three of us stayed for three nights. Very well looked after. Food was good and plentiful and everyone who looked after us was friendly and helpful. Superb background music?!?!
