“Just ok”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

I've always wanted to swim with dolphins but, sadly, I was let down by my experience at Dolphin Cove. For the amount of money you pay you only get to spend around 25 minutes in the water with the dolphins. And, the one-on-one time you get with a dolphin is less than 5 minutes. It's definitely not the personal encounter I had wanted. I left feeling jipped. This company seems too money hungry. They don't allow you to take pics so they can later charge you for the pics their photographer takes. They wanted to charge us $70 to purchase their photos and $100 for a dvd. That's ridiculous. After the dolphins, they take you to their shark area and tease you with a pirate themed shark show. Just when I was thinking that I could hold/pet a shark they tell us it's an additional $50 to get in the water with a shark. Lastly, you get to hold/touch a sting ray. That part was pretty cool. It felt more personal and less rushed than the dolphin encounter. The dolphin encounter was a big let down.

“Amazing experience! Bucket list alert!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012 via mobile

Swim with dolphins, get a belly ride or get pushed up out of the water by dolphin foot push, have a dolphin kiss you in the cheek, and know this is something most people only dream about! Highly recommended!
Tips: no sunscreen, as it irritates dolphin eyes. Buy the pictures, because your camera is not allowed (be prepared to pay $70 for the photo CD), skip the DVD-it's not really more than you get from the pics and not worth the extra $30. Visit the stingray pen to touch and get pics (your camera is allowed for this) but skip the "shark show". No need to be a strong swimmer, as you'll be in good floatation vests. As everywhere in Jamaica, a few dollars tip will be much appreciated from anyone who helps you along the way, drivers, stingray handlers, etc.

“Amazing day with the dolphins”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

My wife, 2 daughters (age 10 and 12) and myself did the ultimate experience at Dolphin cove on our recent vacation. We absolutely loved it!

We would highly recommend this adventure. Great time with the stingray prior to our dolphin experience. We got to meet and learn about them. Be in the water with them. Be carried around on their fins and then be "pushed" by the noses through the waterman in a superman like experience. We had a blast!

It cost about $100 each for the highest level, but was the highlight of our trip.

Safe for younger kids and great staff. We never felt unsafe. We bought the pictures and video done by the staff. We loved it. The whole experience was about 90 minutes.

“An excellent experience, but overpriced!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

We paid $85 each (including transfers) for the dolphin swim experience. We were in a group of 8 and were in the water with 1 dolphin for about 1/2 an hour, in which time we all had a chance to touch the dolphin, see it clap, dance and sing. The highlight for me was being pulled along by the dolphin.

You can pay a further $55 for a shark experience but this looked nothing like as fun.

Also included in the dolphin swim price is a sting ray touch experience which was ok but nothing special - particularly when they tell you that the rays can grow to 6x12 ft and this one was more like 1x1 ft.

The one really disappointing thing about this trip was that you are not allowed to take any of your own pictures of the dolphin experience and you have to pay $40 for one picture or $66 for a CD with all of the professionally-taken pictures on it and even more on top if you want the video. The price is the sole reason that my review is 3 rather than 5 stars.

It is also worth noting that no hats or suncream can be worn when swimming with the dolphins.

“Dream come true but not what i was hoping for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012 via mobile

I love dolphins and have dreamed 40 yrs of swimming with them and i that dream became reality but this was not what i had visioned. It is a beautiful cove yet very small. I live in Texas and was expecting this place to be small but when you walk in past the gate what you see is what you get. The dolphin area is good sized and i did like the concept that they were contained in a cove instead of a salt water swimming pool it was a natural environment. They have a shark area with on nurse shark and it is a very small area and a sting ray in a small area 2 camels and the smallest beach i have ever seen thats all there is. On the internet i saw the prices and almost booked the trip on their website but i waited. That was a good move Couples Swept Away booked it for me alot cheaper than the advertised price because there were discounts avaliable.
The dolphin swim was good but not a very intimate experience which i was looking for. They start you out dividing into groups. 4-6 in the water at a time trainer on a platform. You cant touch the dolphins unless the trainer tells you to, you cant swim anywhere unless you are told to...it kind of felt like we were being trained. You cant hear the trainer then they get aggrivated when you dont know what to do. The dolphins were great and responded well. The dorsal pull and foot push are great but i would have been happier if they just let the dolphins interact with us on their own. We paid somewhere around $120 a person. I am glad we did it however next time i think we would only visit Dolphin Coves main location next to Dunn River Falls it looks like there is more to do. And as for swimming with the dolphins not again unless i can do one on one.... dolphins are happy and loving but this was more for show and posing for pictures then enjoying a awesome experience.
The shark skit was not worth watching and I did not go to Jamaica to ride a camel around a small pin. The sand at the cove is course so have shoes.
They bring the stingray out so you can touch it but we did not get to interact with it. They did not have the canoes or boats either. But once again the dolphins were great but the trainers, shows, and interactions really were not on the level I was looking for.
