“Dont believe the bad reviews!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Grand Palladium (Jamaica side) from June 3-8th in their one bedroom suite (2330). Overall, it was an amazing trip and the resort was absolutely beautiful.

Room: The room was huge! Very spacious and comfortable. There were balconies with lounge chairs leading out of both the living room and the bedroom. There was a TV in the living room as well as the bedroom, however, the TV in the bedroom had a lot of static and the picture was sometimes blurred. But come on, who's going to Jamaica to stay in their room and watch TV? The bathroom was HUGE with a shower big enough for 2-3 people and a jacuzzi.

Food: We opted for the buffets when it came to dining.. mainly because we simply did not want to get dressed up. I have very low standards for buffets because I'm convinced everything tastes bland and generic, however, this was not the case -- the food was delicious and I was pleasantly surprised. We did go to the Creole place for dinner one night and it was amazing (no wait).

Pools/Beaches: The beaches were beautiful, to look at. However, they were very rocky and it was painful to walk in the water so we stuck with the pool.

Service: The service was impeccable! Everyone we came across was extremely friendly and very helpful. Not once did we come across someone who was rude (like many previous reviews mentioned). We even met a groundskeeper who later brought us fresh coconuts, sugar cane and mangoes. Can't get any better than that!

Quick summary. My fiancé and I just got back from the lady hamilton side after staying for 5 days. We will start with the positives..beaches/pools were nice and clean, drinks were good (bring your own large glass)..spa was relaxing and best kept secret..and we would recommend spending the money for a honeymoon suits for the jacuzzi and outdoor shower. Now for the negatives..the AC was horrible in the room, bed/pillows very uncomfortable..food is horrible. I think we lost weight from all the walking, sweating and lack of good food. We were disappointed with the on site shuttle service and were almost run over by them a few times. I suggest looking around and paying more for better food and overall service. Took a taxi to Negril and it looks beautiful there. If you want to just looking to relax, looking for cheap and don't care about quality food this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for the honeymoon suite

My husband surprise me with a trip to the Grand Palladium for my birthday.
The junior suite we had was comfortable and clean and had champagne & strawberries upon arrival. Check-in was quick and has some rum punch available. Staff was polite and accommodating.
Our room was situated a little ways back which was a fair long walk to the pool and beach. They had plenty of food offered and my husband appreciated but the food was ok. I found the food to be cooked in too much oil and actually got a little sick from it. I stuck to pre-packaged items the remainder of the trip.
The entertainment was excellent at this resort and the main bar was full and played great music all night.
They had a night beach grill dinner where everyone sat on the beach and they had different stations to visit. It was a great evening and a lot of fun.
The resort was very large and the spa was great.

If you have gone to other all-inclusive resorts before you will NOT be happy with what you get here... pay a little more and stay elsewhere! If this is the first one you go to it should be OKAY. Customer service is aweful, really AWEFUL.
Hopefully your flight is after check-in time because if it is before, FORGET about checking in early! They will have you wait until 3pm no matter what, they will take all your info and give you a wrist band to go eat at the buffets but will not give you a room. We asked nicely if there was anything available and they did not even look at the computer, they just tell you to come back at 3pm. The problem with that is that EVERYBODY checks in at 3pm and it takes forever to get your room. We asked a building close to the main lobby, we got pretty much the last one on the resort... we asked if we could pay extra for ocean view and they said it was too late to request that, (again they did not look at the computer while saying this). We were explained that the shuddle takes you anywhere you want all you have to do is call... the shuddle takes at least 20mts to get to your building... we had to walk everywhere.
Customer service is beyond bad, we paid $50 to have WiFi on the resort, the WiFi almost NEVER worked, when we complained all we were told is "would you like a refund".
Food is not very good, it was OKAY. You cannot make any reservations unless you are more than like 8 people... wait time for the restaurants are of at least one hour. The mexican restaurant had a wait line of 45mts and then we waited over 1 hour to get our food... which was not very good.. couldn't really eat it. The stake house was the best restaurant they had.
I got sick at one of the restaurants and tried to see the nurse. PLEASE ADVISE, to see the nurse is $30 and to see the doctor is $200, it is NOT FREE as they advertize. It is adverized as medical care free until 5pm... NOPE.
This resort is about 45mts from Negril and MoBay, so be aware that it will take you that long to do ANY activities or trips, since all the activities and trips are in one of those two places.
The resort is very pretty, the rooms very comfortable and big, the AC works great, the view is beautiful and the beach is amazing. We were just really unhappy with the customer serivice, the poor organization and bad food.
We were happy we visited Jamaica and their beautiful beaches, but will never be staying here again.

Room Tip: You will need a shuttle for any buildings #15 and up

Junior suite was comfortable and clean. Although my husband and I were traveling with a large group, we were able to find quiet time to do what we wanted to do--or do nothing at all!

There are several pools located throughout the property with the main pool central to everything and right on the shore of the Caribbean Sea. We chose to hang out at the Roselle Bar and pool for the first few days because it was directly across from our room (Villa 12). Late into our trip, we discovered the spa pool, which includes two hot tubs, a sauna, a steam room (not operational when we were there), a pool with jets, and a lazy river pool. Spa services are additional, but there is no additional charge for use of the pool area.

We were there for seven nights and had dinner at each of the restaurants, except for the seafood restaurant. Service was a little slow, but that's to be expected, since the locals seem to go at a slower pace, except when they are behind the wheel of a car. Quality of the appetizers and entrees was good, but the desserts were lacking--they looked a lot better than they tasted. One complaint is that the air conditioning in the restaurants was lacking. In fact, the open air restaurants (Boghali and Reggaetoni) were cooler than those that were enclosed.

The Sports Bar is a nice place to hang out, and the food menus is traditional American: hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, sandwiches, wraps. The Jerk Hut is worth the trek to the opposite end of the resort. Buffet restaurants were fine for breakfast.

There are numerous bars located throughout the property. We brought cups from home because my husband read this tip on TripAdvisor, and we were glad we did. Bartenders were very accommodating, and with larger cups we made less trips to the bar and saved the staff from having to wash lots of dirty glasses.

Room Tip: Rooms in Villas 11-13 are close to main pool, restaurants, and reception area.

okay. so yeah i also am one of those people that ignored the negative reviews. some of them i did not agree with - the pillows and bed were fine to me - i didnt find that to be an issue. the staff was mostly friendly although a couple of them could have been a bit nicer.

i did find the resort to be too large and i think the phrase 'quality over quantity' applies in the case of the grand palladium. while the grounds were pretty i found that the rooms were sub par. i am not the pickiest of people but if my towels are stained and my tub is dirty it's gonna bother me. also there were flies surrounding the buffet and salad bars pretty much every time i ate there. i get that this resort is mostly outside - but they should cover the salad then. another thing, the drinks were not strong. and i felt kind of weird asking for more alcohol - the casino bar drinks were the strongest if you stayed in the casino and played the slots, which makes sense because they want you to keep playing.

the pool was nice but not the cleanest ever. the beaches were beautiful even though they were small and a bit rocky. the jerk chicken hut was AMAZING - huge portions and so good. the rest of the restaurants were just okay. the steakhouse was decent, mexican just eh, the seafood was also decent. those were the only 3 we visited. the buffet had a good selection for breakfast but thats about it.

my major complaint would be the rooms. i did not feel they were clean enough - the tub was dirty, the toilet was clean but in this little tiny section of the bathroom - it just looked strange. the sheets were clean but the bedspread was gross - i never use that anyways but still. the towels sometime had stains.

as far as the nightlife, my boyfrined and i were to oexhausted after drinking all day and being in the sun so we did not really go out after dinner. we stopped at the casino bar twice for an hour which was fun and we won money. it had a bunch of slot machines.

anyways, although i had a nice time i would not go back to the grand palladium. i think for the price we paid i could have stayed somewhere nicer.

We recently returned from our second 2 week trip to Jamaica, this time to the Grand palladium Jamaica Resort and Spa. We are a well travelled couple both aged 24 and don't normally write reviews but we feel people need to know what they are getting from this hotel. Its certainly not all negative but it is not what we expected for the money or standard shown online.
Check in was very quick (no welcome drink) however we didn't get the sea view room requested, Instead we looked over the opposite block and a main road so had the curtain closed for privacy an awful lot. The free room safe was a bonus.
The room was spectacular with an open bathroom and a 2 person Jacuzzi in the middle of the room and unlike other guests in our party our shower was powerful and awesome,(only leak because they put seals on back to front) and the air con got so cold we had to turn it off occasionally, so no complaints there.
We had a coffee maker, but after one use they fail to stock it back up unless you pester them time and time again and the mini fridge refill drinks were hit and miss. There are 3 separate people enter your room throughout the day...towel person, maid, and fridge stocker. Towels and maids were fine for us but unfortunately not for the other 4 we travelled with who often went without. bathroom essentials also seemed to be in short supply.
The only complaint about the Block was the noise level. If it wasn't beds banging on the wall keeping you awake it was the noise of music or tvs from other guests as everything echos so loud.
The main pool was massive and surprisingly warm, but dirty with plastic and glass that you may tread on, broken tiles, and no working jacuzzis. Again this is a very noisy area where the entertainment takes place during the day. If you want a more relaxing atmosphere, then use the small pool nearer the room blocks which is a lot cleaner, Jacuzzi works and it also has a bar.
The restaurants were fantastic, maybe lacking a bit of air con in the a la cartes but it was bearable. Dress code seemed to be ignored mind you. You couldn't fault the food anywhere, even in the buffet there was plenty of choice for even the fussiest of eaters. The best waiters also seemed to be in the restaurants and buffets with the exception of a few. The only issue is we had to wait for 45mins most times or find a less busy restaurant. The Italian and Indian were noisy most nights because of wedding discos next door but again the food was good.
The beaches are great, especially for snorkelling. However loungers are rotten because they allow people to take them in the sea and they get left there. Sunset cove was dirty (old food plates and flies, rotting beds) but has the best snorkelling and a decent snack bar and jerk hut.
Entertainment was ok. good if you like dancing most nights but pretty much same everywhere you go.
Barmaids....tipping goes a very very long way...we ended up getting our own drinks quite often because they were ignoring us and walking past to someone regularly giving tips....give me a good service too and I will tip you...simple.
The sports bar is fantastic and has great food...very well looked after. Gardens were well maintained and everything in general was kept clean and tidy to the eye. Spa looked amazing.

The worst part of our holiday was drugs. Being young, we were offered it by our bellboy on the first night, neighbouring balconies regularly smoking it, one day even our room filled with the smell it was that strong. Got offered it at the poolside, people regularly smoking behind the bush, and even people smoking at the infinity bar late one night.
The infinity bar is the closest to the lobby and has lovely views but is always so noisy with bass thumping through. We were hoping for a relaxing quiet drink with backing singers or bands, not full on discos.
This hotel is good if you like a more upbeat party atmosphere....but we like to relax peacefully and take in our surroundings so we will not be heading back here as there is no escape, we just wish we had listened to other reviews before we booked.

Room Tip: Ask for one with an open bathroom! Much better!
