where do I start... I booked the honeymoon villa suite for my husband as a christmas present, for Feb 22nd - March 1st, 2013
We arrived there at noon and checkin was not til 3, fair enough... but once they knew we were there early, it would have been appreciated if they at least had it ready for 3?? We were supposed to have private check in too, but instead waited in line with 50+ ppl, just to find out our room wasnt ready, and then did it again at 3pm, and again at 4... they kept telling everyone to come back at the same time each time, so it created and angry, sweaty, tired mob of ppl who just wanted their rooms so they could shower and make it for dinner. By the time we got to our room (1/4 mile or so away) it was almost 5pm!!
It was quite the hike to the pool, lobby, or main buffet from our room (villa directly on the point), we timed it once and was 15 min walking fairly quickly. There were no outdoor lights on the path past the last two buildings, so you had to be very careful going home, especially if you had anything to drink.
3 of our 7 days, our room did not get cleaned until the night maid came for turn down service... we thought maybe they came around really early and we were not putting the green tag up early enough but one day we left the green tag on the door and left at 7am... came back at 5:30 and room had not been cleaned, called and it took 3hrs to bring us towels, so we could shower for dinner :( The bar fridge did not get refilled every day, 2 days for sure they didnt come, and we had to call 3 times over 5hrs to get water... when they did fill it, we got 1 beer, 2 pop and 2 water only :( After complaining (in a reasonable way), with two days left of our stay, to the front desk, we really expected our bar fridge to be done the next day, but it was not filled again while we were there.
The room was dated, but had a small flat screen tv and a white leather couch to modern up the look a bit...about halfway through the week, we came in from the beach to find the leather couch gone and an old stinky material couch with no cushions on the back, in its place!!!
The buffets looked impressive when we first arrived, but the food was horrible. Cross contamination is bad here, dessert that tasted like fish, slimy sand meat, and once my husband swore there was feces in the chocolate cake!! his exact words were, " it tastes like dog &*it smells" :( They seat everyone at the buffet, which is kinda ridiculous because it just backed up a line through the middle of the outside diners tables... most nights there were plenty of tables, but the girls at the desk were standing around talking rather than seating ppl.
The staff around the resort were not helpfull at all, they actually get in your way everywhere around the resort, and act like they dont even see you... and even at the buffet, the staff eat there too, they will get in front of you to get something there is only one of, or a little left.
There was a group of staff talking one day at the towel exchange, they just looked at me and kept talking for a good 10min before taking my towels If you asked anyone for anything, they just sent you off to ask someone else.
There is also no need to pay to stay on the Lady Hamilton side, the guests from the Jamaica side are allowed to use everything and all areas that the lady hamilton guests use, except a tiny area that is for the royal club guests, (which we were), and that was the only extra the whole stay, four beds and some chairs :(
They really harass you to join their travel club too, seriously... notes in your door everytime you leave, ppl at the front desk, in the lobby when you come back from shopping, "oh you look like you like shopping, come to our special breakfast" (they brought us to the reg buffet!!)and then...wanna spend $60g's on a room here for a few nights a year?? lol they were telling me how if I was a member I could stay in their top notch villas... then they brought us to the room beside ours, I asked, is it the same as next door, and they said yes! I told them I was not getting any of the great things they were taking about, like personalized mini bar, special service, free internet etc etc... and my couch was missing lol, they had nothing to say and instead of showing us the villa, took us back to the office to try to get our money, saying they are all the same and no need to show us if we were staying in one!!
Internet in the lobby is "free" but good luck connecting! even when it did, it was only for a few minutes. We paid $70 for the week for the better internet that was supposed to work in the rooms, (had to be able to check on our kids at home)... the first night it didnt work at all, the next night around 7pm someone finally came to fix it and put a signal booster in our room, it worked the rest of that night. The next day when I tried to connect, it wouldnt, after about 30 min on the phone, the guy hung up with me and said he would reboot the system and to try again in 10 min... about 1/2 an hour later it worked. This was the norm everyday when trying to connect, 45 min - 1 hour before they could get it going :(
I felt like I spent the whole week waiting for things, water, pop, towels, room cleaning, shuttle, drinks at the bars, food, internet etc etc Even at the front desk, when my key didnt work, made the 15 min trip to the front desk, just to get a line up of about 15 ppl, took at least 30 min, 3 other staff standing around talking behind the desk while one person served everyone. then I tried to get a shuttle back and they said 1/2hr :(
I could go on and on, but I would rather forget my week at this place. Bottom line... too many rooms to staff ratio(and they say they are adding a couple hundred more!), not enough staff, and unfriendly staff. We are not picky and have never given such a bad review of a resort, but this trip was not what we expected, at all.
I regret not heading the warning from a friend who had a similar experience at the palladium in punta cana this year... I thought a different country, might be better, no. I will not stay at another palladium, anywhere, ever again.
**no beach at palladium either, what looks like beach is rocky, full of urchins and impossible to walk around in, even with a good pair of water shoes
get a room at a different resort :)

I am terribly sorry about the facts you describe. They are certainly not the Hotel's policy.
You mention about the long distances, as you may see in internet, the design of the property is not just a main building with all the rooms concentrated in one , we have villas, each villa with 36 rooms , plus bungalows. We try to assign the rooms based on availability , considering the special circumstances of each guests. I'm sorry to hear that in this case your room was kind of far from the main amenities. Sometimes we depend on availability .
I feel sorry that you never found our food attractive, because we don't really receive complains about it. Well, about the dog's whatever, no comments. But again, we cater for a lot of guests and believe me that this is never a complain, and we have to adapt to a lot of palates. Every day you can choose a lot of options in our buffets.
Last , I'm sorry you never found our staff friendly , may be different culture, different of what we are used to, but I truly believe that we have a friendly and unique staff.
We hope we can serve you again in the future.
