“Extraordinary find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2012

About 1.5 hours NE of Castlegar, BC is the town of Kaslo. Staying overnight for business I was astonished at this gem situated at the lake front. The hotel must have been recently redone and all is 1st class. Rooms are luxurious with large balconies. Pub has excellent food at reasonable prices. Hotel is immaculate and staff are eztremely friendly and helpful. Only regret was I was not able to stay longer.

When thinking of accomodation above a pub, most people would not think of luxury. But luxury is exactly what is on offer here. The building is just three years old and was modled on an old colonial era style building. They have done an amazing job of the renovation which would be better described as a modern boutique hotel in which the pub is a central component. The rooms are huge. Ours faced the lake with a massive deck. The room had all of the modern conveniences that you would expect in a hotel room in a major city. The bathroom was huge, stylish and tastefully appointed. The manager and staff are all very friendly and professional. The pub serves decent food and has a good range of beers from the surrounding areas. We have done several road trips in BC. Sometimes the choice of quality hotels in smaller towns is limited. However, this was the best hotel we stayed in during our very long trip. If you are travelling through Kaslo, a stay here could easily be the best place you will stay during your whole trip. It easily competes with the best boutique hotels in cities such as San Fransisco, Toronto and Vancouver. You will not be dissapointed. Kaslo is very nice.

This hotel has been redone .. and the rooms are absolutely gorgeous !! Spacious .. well appointed .. modern bathrooms. Room was on the 2nd floor and had an awesome view of the lake. The food in the bar is excellent ! What a great place to stay. Staff are extremely friendly. If you are anywhere near here, it's worth the stay.

Staying at The Kaslo Hotel was an experience I will never forget and I am looking forward to my next stay there. From the friendly welcome, clean rooms, amazing views, awesome food to the company in the Pub from the locals while dinning by myself. The overall experience was EXCELLENT! Highly recommended, enjoy! :) 5*****

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the lake and mountains.

We ended up needing to find a place to stay in Kaslo, BC due to poor road conditions. When we spotted the very handsome Kaslo Hotel and Brew Pub we thought we would take a chance. What a wonderful surprise it was for us. The hotel has 11 rooms all on the top floor. Each room either faces the stunningly beautiful Kootenay Lake or the very charming main street of Kaslo. The room was very clean and very nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable. Although our room faced the street it was very quiet. The food in the pub was delicious and the staff were all very friendly. The pub has a big beautiful wood fireplace that was so comforting to sit beside. The pub and restaurant look out onto the lake. We came off of the road feeling stressed and weary and checked out the next day feeling like we had had an unexpected holiday.

Room Tip: Just ask the staff, they are very helpful.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2011

We stayed at the Kaslo Hotel and Brew Pub in mid October. The hotel is a beautifully restored 3 story building on the waterfront, with a view over Kootenay Lake. Our lakeside room was large, well furnished, with two queen beds, and very comfortable. There was a good sized patio, with a table and two chairs, perfect for an evening drink overlooking the lake. Everything in the room was modern and high quality, and we thought we would thoroughly enjoy our overnight stay. Unfortunately, noise from music and people enjoying themselves in the large, busy pub and dining room on the first floor, more or less directly below our room, kept us awake until well after 1:30 am. When I called down to the front desk to ask when the music would be shutting down, my call was forwarded to the bar, where no one answered. We were there on a Saturday night, but I was assured by staff that the pub was a vibrant scene until late, every night including Sunday (and they bring in bands for live music on some nights). For anyone who wanted to enjoy the pub until late, the Kaslo Hotel would be a great place to stay. For my wife and me, it was not so great. I don’t think we would go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a lakeside room. A third floor room might be quieter.

Thank you for writing a review. we are very sorry that you did not enjoy a quiet night due to Pub activity. It was an oversight by the team member who organized your booking. In an effort to assure a great lake view, we failed to note that we had booked you directly over the Pub on a live music night. We normally take great care in notifying customers about occasional Pub noise. There are almost always room options with or without lake view where noise is not a problem. In fact most nights the Pub is a fun and friendly place to be without disrupting guest stays. In this instance we blew it. Should you change your mind and decide to give us another try, we'll make it right.
