From the outside this hotel looks like the last chance saloon but inside it is totally modern. We had a lake view which was worth paying extra for. The room was very large and the sound insulation was brilliant so we got a great night’s sleep (most hotels between Vancouver and the Rockies seem to be within earshot of the railroad and so the peace and quiet in this hotel was especially welcome). After a long day of driving from the Rockies it was the perfect place to stop off, down a few local beers and generally re-fuel. We also enjoyed (and spent a fortune in) the Live Art Shop next door which offers high quality and unique Canadian art; a pleasant change from the tourist shops in Rockies. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is the high price and the lack of breakfast in the hotel. We did have an excellent breakfast just across the road from the hotel but it would have been perfect if we could have had breakfast on the hotel veranda looking out across the lake.
