“Quiet, Comfortable and Relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2011

From the outside this hotel looks like the last chance saloon but inside it is totally modern. We had a lake view which was worth paying extra for. The room was very large and the sound insulation was brilliant so we got a great night’s sleep (most hotels between Vancouver and the Rockies seem to be within earshot of the railroad and so the peace and quiet in this hotel was especially welcome). After a long day of driving from the Rockies it was the perfect place to stop off, down a few local beers and generally re-fuel. We also enjoyed (and spent a fortune in) the Live Art Shop next door which offers high quality and unique Canadian art; a pleasant change from the tourist shops in Rockies. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is the high price and the lack of breakfast in the hotel. We did have an excellent breakfast just across the road from the hotel but it would have been perfect if we could have had breakfast on the hotel veranda looking out across the lake.

Room Tip: The lake side rooms are above the bar/restaurant but when you shut the patio windows you don't h...

We were a bit disappointed at the Kaslo Hotel & Brew Pub, but perhaps our expectations were too high. You definitely pay for the view.

The $200/night Lakeside room was large and beds comfortable. The view over the lake was as expected; very nice and soothing. In spite of the dining area adjacent below the 2nd floor room, the room was quiet and the aircon was also quiet and efficient. The room opens onto a wide balcony with table & chairs so you can sit and take in the view. However the balcony is traversable by all on the floor (although areas are roped off). This makes for a slightly uncomfortable feeling that privacy could be invaded at any time, esp if room curtains are open. The Lakeside rooms don't get afternooon sun - choose the other side for that.

Kaslo itself is charming and definitely worth a visit.

We were surprised at soap dispensers rather than soaps in the room - more Motel 6 style. Also surprised that restaurant meals etc were not able to be charged to the room. Maybe they have a big problem with no-payers.

We'd go back to the Brew Pub, but would try to choose a cheaper room, which would be better value.

Room Tip: Noise could be a problem if you are over the outside dining area on a busy night

My wife and I visited here recently. Kaslo is a great location and we were looking forward to staying at this hotel. The hotel is fine and had a nice room and comfy bed. I was particularly looking forward to sitting on the patio overlooking the lake and enjoying the brews. I was surprised that the "brew" component of the pub is still not operational. The hotel brochure I saw earlier that day mentioned that it was opening in 2009. The property should drop the brew pub from its name. This was a disappointment for us. We still had a good time although the price is a little high for the amenities (no breakfast at the hotel). The place suggested for breakfast was very good though.

Very nice hotel! The hotel has been there for years but was bought, torn down to the foundation and rebuilt about 2 ½ years ago. Being this new, the rooms are in fantastic shape, and they are very large and spacious. The bathroom and fixtures are first rate although the water pressure in the shower isn’t great. We stayed in a corner room with 2 queen beds that were very comfortable. There is a huge private deck with a table and two chairs. The view from the deck is of the lake, although it is somewhat compromised by a power line and a small parking lot that are behind the motel. It had a desk and chair for internet use (the free wi-fi mostly had a good signal). The hotel is located on Front St., which is the main drag for restaurants and galleries. Everything is within short walking distance. The rate was $170 (Canadian). I would highly recommend this hotel! Ate dinner here also (read my review of the Kaslo Hotel Brew Pub). Kaslo itself is a very nice small town. It has some nice shops to look for art – worth walking around the town.

Upon arriving in the quaint town of Kaslo on our motorcycles, we make our way to the beautiful renovated hotel. Check in was a breeze. Security at this hotel is outstanding, with the most up to date hardware, as you're not even able to access the staircase or elevator without a swipe card.
We enter our room and its unbelievably spacious and luxurious with a huge balcony and views of the lake and mountains. The details in the room are very high end. This hotel ranks higher than most five star hotels we have stayed at when it comes to furniture, size and overall luxury. They spared no coin here.
Once we cleaned up, we walk the town, lots of great stores with local artesian arts and goods for sale. We head back to the hotel for dinner and drinks on the patio and enjoyed the rest of our stay there. Unfortunately, for the quality of the hotel, the food in their restaurant was a let down.
We would definitely be back to the Kaslo Hotel the next time we pass through there.

Room Tip: Pay the little extra and get the lake view...

This was our first visit to Kaslo and we was very impressed with the area and town. I booked the Kaslo hotel based on reviews that I had read prior to booking, that rated it very highly.

In our opinion it is a very nice property asthetically, the rooms are clean tidy and spacious, however for $200 a night plus tax which did not include breakfast we felt it was too expensive. The location is idyllic however an open mic night which happened in the hotel bar the one night we decided to stay, meant that we did not take full advantage of the room and deck which overlooked the lake as the atmosphere was spoilt and the music continued until 12.45am.

This may not bother some people but was not what we was looking for. We have stayed in many Hotels and B&B's in Canada in fantastic locations and our expectations are extremely high, unfortunately the Kaslo Hotel did not live up to our expectations and we would not go back.

Room Tip: Room # 205 is for people with disabilities we was not informed of this.

Fantastic picturesque town and an excellent hotel. This town and hotel were recommended in one of our travel books for Western Canada. It was well worth a visit - charming town on a very large lake.

Hotel / food / service were first class - we would recommend. We only stayed for one night and wished we had stayed longer.

We booked this destination direct over the internet and were surprised that our travel agent was unable to do it? Anyway, we had a first class room overlooking the lake and mountains beyond - wonderfull.

Room Tip: If you have car and travelling around exploring Canada - check this hotel and town out
