“Wonderful relaxing vacation - we will be back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

We booked our stay at the Provence Country Club via Siglinde Fischer-Charming Places in Hochdorf, Germany. The Apartments at the Provence Country Club are run on a daily basis by Madame Vacances, from Chambery, France. These are top companies and are easy to work with, quick, efficient, and very helpful to insure you have a good vacation.

The apartment complexes which comprise the Provence Country Club are actually located on a golf course, and are therefore a gated community. Like most vacation homes, it appears, and I cannot verify, that each apartment has a separate owner, an investor, who uses the apartment themselves, and allows Madame Vacances to rent it out the rest of the year. Good for all involved. The particular apartment we had was actually two each complete one-bedroom apartments, each with it's own kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, and terrace with a connecting doorway. The connecting doorway did not have an actual closable door, so it is always used as a two bedroom apartment. The living room couch was in both cases available as a single or double bed, so there you get the possibility to sleep more, I would guess up to 8. Personally I would not do that as it would be too cramped for me, but for two adults and up to 2 children per apartment should not be a problem. When the couch is in the bed position, it rather fills up the living room, leaving no space over for a table and chairs on which to eat - you would need to eat on the terrace, weather permitting.

The location we had was ground floor, facing the #2 or #3 green. We are not golfers, and wandering about the course is both forbidden and dangerous, so I am not sure which was there, but it was a lovely view. The apartments are located in several building clusters, each with a separate name, very attractive. Our row of apartments had a total f 20 apartments, all set off at an angle, so you still have a lot of privacy.

Each apartment is very complete. You really don't need to bring anything at all with you except food and clothing. The kitchen has everything, equipment wise, utensils, dishes, bowls, etc. that you need, towels and bedding you pick up when checking in. a daily maid service is not included in the rental price.

This location is fantastic for exploring the Vaucluse. You are right in the middle of the countryside and are not pinned down in a town. Evenings are quiet, and if you play golf and don't want to tour around, there is a lot to do there too.

If anything is missing from the apartment, and you get an invneotory listing upon arrival, they will replace it almost immediately. Other electrical/water problems are fixed daily. These services, as well as a morning bread service, are all outstanding. We were missing a fork, it was replaced while I was standing there.

The bathroom was large, with tub and shower, separate electrical heater, toilet in a separate room. Tile floors are easy to keep clean. A flat screen TV with many European channels on hand.

Complaints? Our only concern was the couch. Since it doubled for some people as a bed, it was rather deep as a couch, and you could not sit on it with your back against the back and still keep your feet on the floor. But in the summer not many people will stay inside and watch TV, but we were there in September and the evenings and nights are cool, and to sit outside for any length of time is too cold.
Our neighbors were there for the 3rd time. We stayed 14 days. terrific.

Room Tip: You need only decide if you want your terrace facing east or west if you go in the heat of mid-summe...

If you have your own car then this place is perfect for excursions in Provence. It is neat, comfortable, modern and self catering kitchens well equipped.

I took the effort and read previous reviews on TripAdvisor and other sites and this is the advice:
1. If you are 4 people - book the 6 party room. 6 people - book the 8 party room. The reason for this is that there is a sleeper couch that sleeps 2 in the living area which means if you have to use it you actually dont have a living area. The price for a larger room is not that more expensive, so spend the extra money and you will have ample space.
2. You pay extra for your bedding, towels and TV. Once you have paid for this it becomes more in line with other hotels / rentals. But I personally felt it was still good value for money.
3. Their payments upfront works slightly different to other hotels - so read the small print beforehand.

We spend a week in the Vaucluse area and absolutely loved it - part of the reason was our comfortable accommodation.

Room Tip: Pay a bit more and go for a bigger unit.

Eight of us shared two apartments overlooking the fifth fairway. Can't fault the course - a great test and generally in excellent condition, although the green fees at €70 for 18 holes and €50 for 9 holes were a bit steep. The service and food in the restaurant and bar were absolutely fine. However, the whole experience was ruined by the standard of the accommodation and by the attitude of the people in charge of them (different people, I think, from those running the golf course). This is the first time in my life, in any type of accommodation (let alone one making a claim to four stars), that upon arrival I have been handed a sealed plastic bag containing bedsheets etc. and invited to make my own bed - my very own boot camp! The apartments are basic to say the least, equipped with the minimum of facilities and cheap and flimsy furnishings. Upon departure, we gave the place a thorough cleaning, but were told this was not good enough because we had left a few blades of grass on the floor and rubbish (one tissue) in the bathroom bin. No amount of discussion, debate, professions of outrage etc. etc. would dissuade them from adding a €100 (per apartment) cleaning fee, although they did concede a small discount - what a rip off!! Never going back.

Had 2 villas for party of 8. They are supposed to sleep 7/8 each so plenty of room we thought but reality is that there are only 4 real beds in each and rest are temporary beds that if used would take up every square inch in the place. Poorly equipped with bits and pieces of crockery, cutlery, equipment etc., and absolutely nothing to get you started on your stay. We made the best of it but then having gone thru both villas on departure and cleaned them, their cleaning inspector said they weren't clean enough so we were charged a hefty extra for cleaning - wholly unjustified but they had the credit card details so it went thru anyway despite a challenge.
Lovely spot and great golf but find somewhere else to stay.

Just got back from a week at Provence Country Club. The apartment was clean and comfortable but the best bit was the view. Outstanding! The location is superb and there is are so many beautiful places to explore nearby. We ate at the restaurant on site one evening and it was very good. Shame it isn't promoted more. Will definitely return to PCC!!

Being only 4 adults we did rent a 7 people apartment. It is a very large and comfortable unit, with 2 bedrooms and enough showers and bathrooms. The outstanding view, first floor facing the golf court makes the difference. Very well equipped. Good restaurant and enough optional breakfasts.
The front desk mood is not friendly, even aggressive and trying at any moment to take money from you, sometime with not clean or logic arguments. There is some lady there working in the very wrong place, someone that the last thing she may do is to attend public. She was a good reason to leave the place. Something we did not because e payment was 100% in advance.

Room Tip: The nearest possible to the main house if you do not have a car. The farther possible if you do hav...

I live in the region and know the residence well from trips in 2007/8 and the occasional meal in the restaurant (hit and miss for both food and as ever, service). I booked for 2 nights for some much needed rest and was given an apartment on the ground floor. Immediately entering the apartment it was obvious that the settee was badly broken and had been left at an angle which made it unuseable. No telecommande for the tv (chargeable I believe), no guest soap, no welcome pack or even info pack with essential info on using the phone, contacts etc. Wifi will cost you extra too. A very quiet evening and early night was in order! The following morning I plugged in my mobile phone charger which resulted in a loud bang, a shower of sparks from the socket and the loss of all power to the apartment. That was quite enough for me, so I cleaned ( leaving it in better condition than I found it) and went to reception to hand in the key and ask for a refund for the second night. Reception locked, no one available until 4pm. Returned home to phone and ask for a refund for the second night only ( In the interests of good customer relations a better quality establishment would have offered a full refund!) speaking to both head office and eventually the manager of the complex. No apology, just a confrontational stance indicating that my opinion was purely subjective. Advised to call aftersales at head office the following morning to discuss a refund. Once more, a confrontational and argumentative stance with no apology and a flat refusal to refund my credit card for the 2nd night. In short, the staff on site seem surly, disinterested and with little concept of the importance of customer satisfaction/care . The standard has deteriorated considerably over the last couple of years and in no way should this now be classified as a 4* residence. In the line of my work I am frequently asked to recommend quality accommodation in the region and based on my initial experience in 2007, have sent a number of clients to the residence, but with a very mixed feedback indeed over the last couple of years. Having now had more recent experience of both the accommodation and attitude, I won't be referring my clients again! Incidentally the same can be said of the resturant and bar,( apparantly a seperate entity to the residence) where recently I watched as a family from the north of France with 2 small children were made to wait over 40 minutes for someone to arrive with a broom to clean up a broken glass ( the waiter had already broken a bottle when initially bringing their drinks to the table) fighting all the time to keep their children away from the shards. Eventually I sought the manager to request a broom, explaining that it was dangerous for the children. His response was that it wasn't his fault, it was the fault of the 3 year old for breaking the glass in the first place!! The family got up and left, vowing never to stay there again.
In short, unless you are only there for the golf (the course is excellent) there really are much better places to stay in the region. Customer service is non existent, staff thoroughly disinterested (and in some cases just downright rude!) accommodation at best very mediocre. Very poor value for money, about time the tourist board paid another visit I think!

Room Tip: Go elsewhere :-)
