“Beautiful Beachfront Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago NEW

We staid in the hotel for one week and we really enjoyed the place. The pool area is very nice. Unfortunately the hot tub was out of service. Rooms are decent, staff is very friendly. The housekeeping forgot to clean our room twice, they just picked up towels and didn't put clean towels back so I had to go downstairs and ask for towels at the front desk as the phone was not working in the room.

I stayed with my family and there was a mix-up with the room: they told us on arrival that we had reserved two rooms with two bedrooms each. Apparently the website on which we booked did so twice. We told them it was an error, and they told us it was ok. But afterwards we were charged for the two rooms for the two nights we stayed there. We were never able to contact management to resolve this, not even through the website we bought the package from. Had we known we were going to be charged anyway, we would have used the second room then. We were even nice enough not to ask for a room change when the air conditioning started leaking inside the living area. Would not stay there again, just because of the poor customer service.

True, the rooms might be a little dated or need minor repair, but the service and friendliness of the entire staff we encountered was so far beyond expectation we could not believe it. The front desk guy named Christopher was patient and beyond helpful. We only stayed for one night before a cruise, but are considering an extended stay for our next family vacation. One of the most beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico I have encountered.

What a lovely place for a vacation! We had a well appointed 2 bedroom/2 bath unit that included a balcony with an ocean view. The pool and outdoor dining facilities were within easy walking distance. Using the resort key allowed us access to the beautiful local beach and nearby town.
Service at Aquarius was excellent, especially from two young women, Ana & Claudia who took exceptional care of our party. Their cocktail skills are nothing short of amazing.
Although Aquarius is a 2 plus hour drive from San Juan, it is well worth it. Not only is the surrounding coastal area stunning, you are well placed to visit other interesting spots of interest. We especially enjoyed snorkeling with West Dive in La Parguera. Ask for Joel, the best dive master we've had the pleasure of meeting.

We stayed at the Aquarius Beach Resort in Boqueron, PR 1/23/2015 -1/30/2015. We had a wonderful time. The Boqueron Beach is just a walk from the resort and easily accessible with our beach key. The pool facilities were wonderful, especially our service from the staff, Ana was on duty the 1st night we arrived which was later in the evening just about closing for them during this low season. She extended herself and stayed open for us and she made us feel quite at home from the beginning! My husband likes martini's and she made a special point of making sure there were olives available for the rest of the week..! Claudia was so informative about restaurants and the area. She went out of her way to make any kind of cocktail we requested and shared many of her wonderful concoctions available to us at the pool bar. The service we received from these two amazing woman was superb as they and the rest of the staff made us feel so welcome. I would also like to mention the front desk staff who were most accommodating for any of our requests. We shared a 2 bedroom villa overlooking the water and it was just perfect for our needs. Very clean and roomy with any amenity necessary for a wonderful vacation. This place is a hidden gem for those who like to relax and enjoy the warm weather and surrounding rural areas. The town of Boqueron comes alive during the weekend. It is very colorful and you get to feel and see a snipet of Puerto Rican culture. We just loved it all! If you are willing to drive the 2.5 hours from San Juan it is worth it by all means! You definitely need to rent a car to see all the wonderful sights available. La Paguera, The Light House, The surrounding beaches. It is all so beautiful. We will be back again and will miss all of the staff that made our vacation so memorable!

Room Tip: Our 2 bedroom villa overlooked the water we were so pleased with our request being honored!

Just in front of the "Balneareo" (the beach). They gave you the "magic key" to access a bridge to get to the "Poblado" (Downtown). So you have everything walking distance +++++! Great pool for the kids. I stayed in a studio. It has a kitchenette (microwave, refrigerator, sink). Parking cost is $5.35 per day. The resort has a restaurant and a bar at the pool area.

Room Tip: more high, best view! best SUNSETS if can get beach view

I would say this place lacks some amenities but it grew on me as the week passed. We had a studio/hotel type room. They have that size and a two bedroom only. The studio is a lock-off from the two bedroom. Furniture is very basic wood and has been around for a little while, I would say. There are two queen beds, two chairs and a desk. The room is largely taken up by the beds. The air conditioning blows straight across the beds, but at night in December it was comfortable with the ceiling fan. There are two wooden chairs. We found it reasonably clean and the housekeeping was very responsive to any needs. In the hallway is a small kitchen area with a mini-fridge, small microwave, a small sink, plates, cups bowls and utensils; but only butter knives, nothing to cut with. The only table to eat on is on the balcony. That is fine and the Changa birds will appear to watch you eat. Don't feed them or they will bring their friends. We were on the sixth floor with a nice ocean view, not all rooms have that. Ice is only on the first floor, one level below the lobby. The two ice machines are industrial strength models with a large bin full of ice and a huge scoop to load up your ice chest or your tiny uninsulated ice bucket. The elevators are rather slow but not too bad. The first floor also has a tiny fitness room with two elliptical machines and little else. Some arcade games and an air hockey table are down there too. The swimming pool is rather small in my opinion, and no more than 3.5 feet deep. They have a splash zone pool for kids and a little kiddie pool. There is no hot spa.

Contrary to other reviews, I had fairly good Wi-Fi reception on the sixth floor; they must have upgraded that recently. Signal was mostly strong and fast but would cut out sometimes. It was annoying so I just used my own data plan most of the time. Service from staff was always very good, friendly and helpful.

Lots of rules here. We were given a list of rules immediately at the gate upon entry with some rules circled and highlighted. Then at check in you must read and sign many places that you understand the consequences of not following the rules, which are high additional charges. But this is Puerto Rico so the rules are not always observed exactly as prescribed.

Parking is two cars deep in all spaces; no individual spaces. If you are in last you give your keys to the attendant so he can move the car.

The small commercial area of Boqueron is a few minutes walk away. They made it sound like it was all closed up but there were places open on a Monday. On weekends everything opens up. Prices are lower than at the bar/restaurant by the pool; like almost by half for the hamburgers we had for lunch. On Tuesday though not a soul was to be seen.

The nearest big commercial area for groceries/pharmacies/restaurants is about five miles away.

You can walk to the beach in a few minutes, which is a public beach. On a weekday in December we found very few people there. There are no rentals of chairs or umbrellas and the Club does not provide those. Nice beach though. On weekends a couple of businesses rent water craft.

Bring mosquito repellent.
