“A perfect haven to relax and enjoy Chiang Mai”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

We are a family of 3 - my husband, 11 year old son and myself. We stayed at the Little Village for 5 nights during May and it was definately the highlight of our trip to Thailand. Hans, his wife Too and their 10 year old son Sanny were the perfect hosts and welcomed us as if we were part of their family. Our large freestanding traditional Thai teak bungalow on stilts was amazing. The bungalow was very clean and had comfortable beds. The property that Little Village sits on is safely fenced in with ample lawned area for children to play, trampoline, bikes, pool the list goes on. This is a perfect getaway for all but especially families with young children. Parents can sit and relax on the porch of their bungalow while they watch their children play. Too's cooking is delicious and you will definately not go hungry! The meals are excellent value for money. Our son really enjoyed playing with Sanny and learning about the countries each other lived in. We would recommend that you borrow a bicycle from Hans and go for a ride through the country lanes and temple at the top of the hill. There is almost no traffic so very safe for families with younger children. This was our 3rd holiday to Chiang Mai and now that we have found Little Village we will always return for our holidays here. Thank you soooo much Hans, Too & Sanny. See you again Frannie, Kevin & Jacob - Australia.

Even before we arrived at Little Village, Hans (the owner) helped us tremendously in planning our stay, letting us know all the possible activities in the area and being very clear on prices. He arranged our collection from Chiang Mai train station, and after a 25 minute drive from Thailand's hot and bustling second city, we arrived at Little Village in the calm countryside. The site is well laid out, with a covered dining area that overlooks the ample pool and the three separate houses on stilts. Comfortable beds, clean and well-functioning bathrooms and modern air conditioning that is quiet and effective - couldn't have been better without loosing a flavour of Thailand. The owner's house is on-site but hidden behind some trees, so he is always available but discrete. There really is so much to do, especially if you hire the minivan taxi - Doi Sutep temple, bike rides around the rice paddies (starting at little village), visit Chiang Mai's night market or take a boat trip to the herb garden farm, visit and swim in lakes, visit the buffalo market, elephant rides and show - and the chief guide Lek, is one of the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides I have ever met. We stayed with our three kids (6,4,1) and were really happy that Lek's family could come along on the excursions with us (we had asked Hans as we wanted our kids to meet Thai kids). Our kids has a great time playing with Lek's wonderful children. Lek's wife Am, who always offered to babysit our one year old while we ate, also handled the cooking for us, preparing excellent breakfasts, lunches or suppers as we needed. Bottled water was offered free of charge and drinks from the well-stocked fridge are available on a note-down-what-you-drink basis.
Little village was the highlight of our two weeks in Thailand. We would love to go back.

Room Tip: We stayed in the end house with the double bed and bunk beds - its the one you see in the website ph...

Thank you very much for your kind words, at Little Village we hope you arrive as guests and part as friends. At the moment we are building 2 more houses, each house has 2 bedrooms and can sleep a maximum of 8 people. Hope to see you again.

A great and quiet place to stay. Not far from Chiang Mai. A perfect getaway from the busy city center. In the middle of nature the owners build a few cottages. All of them nicely furnished with all the comfort you need. It is a small family run business and that is exactly what you get. Breakfast is served whenever you want. Even a nice Thai or Western meal is no trouble at all. That is what hospitality is all about. The swimming pool is magnificent. Especially at night. There is a nice dining area outside. You call and they will provide. And for an unbelievable cheap rate. We have nothing but compliments!

We stayed here for 3 nights in May and it we can't fault one thing! A small family run place with only 3 lovely bungalows and a real relaxed/family feel. Hans and his wife couldn't do enough for us; letting us share their taxi rides, giving us lifts, cooking for us when we needed, arranging tours and offering help and advice. It's about 25-30 min drive to the centre and costs 400thb (£8) but believe me it's worth it to stay out of the busy centre, It's the 2nd biggest city in Thailand! We also did the elephant day trip and the cycle tour with thailandtreks both of which were excellent value. Cheap food and drink were available at the hotel and breakfast was perfect - just what we needed. Rooms were of a high standard; massive shower, massive bed, ac, fan, mini fridge, safe and peaceful balcony to take in the nice gardens and pool area. So chilled after our stay! Also thanks to Alex/Lic who was lovely and very informative!

Room Tip: All lovely!
