Description: Creating classic dishes with an imaginative edge, Luke Thomas heads the kitchen at Sanctum on the Green. The modern menu offers ham hock terrine with homemade piccalilli, or a sirloin of succulent beef with a fricassee of snails. The sumptuous cuisine is served in an inviting setting, with rustic beams and plush leather furniture.

We felt that we were loitering, as if the staff were waiting for us to go, so they could lock up and go home.

“Food was good, service was terrible!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2011 via mobile

I've had wine at Nando's and they've offered me the chance to taste it before pouring. Not here! They go straight in. Not a good start. The restaurant wasn't too busy, but they weren't attentive at all and we even had to get our friend who was sat at the end of the table to clamber around to get our wine and pass it down.

The food tasted great, although the portions are small and leaves you wanting more. Unfortunately, I won't be going for seconds and won't be recommending my friends do either.

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2011

Visited Sanctum on the Green for a late breakfast 9.45 am. Tucked away off the Green in Cookham Dean, easy to find with Sat Nav. Nice location. Staff friendly and attentive. We had between us a full english breakfast and Eggs Benedict from the menu. Both came with coffee or tea and toast and home made jam or marmalade and you could have cereal to start or a selection of fruit juices or yogurts. Cost £12.00 per head plus service charge. Quality of the food was good and would have been excellent if the fried eggs had been completely soft! Overall a good experience.

“Superb service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2011

This was our first visit, struggled to find this hidden gem, but delighted to find it tucked away in a beautiful spot of England at it's best.

We were received with a very warm welcome, attention to detail throughout our evening was spot on yet not intrusive.

The breaks between each course was perfect allowing you to relax, enjoy your food and take in the beautiful surroundings of the very tasteful contempary/traditonal country charm.

The food quality and quantity was superb and beautifully presented. The wine selection excellent and well priced. Only slight criticism was that we found the menu slightly strange as you had to work your way through each page to discover what was on offer, and you could easily miss some of the choices.

We will be back - and next time very tempted to try one of the rooms for a real treat!
