My boyfriend and I booked a three night stay very last minute to include Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly lady on reception who made us feel very welcome and got us checked in quickly and efficiently.
When entering our room we were extremely pleased with the size and the cleanliness! The only tiny things that bothered myself more than my boyfriend was the view which was directly onto the bar terrace meaning we did have to close our curtains and it could be noisy if our window was open. We booked a double room which was actually two single beds pushed together, however this was not a problem as they were secure and did not move, which we actually found more comfortable than our double bed at home. Our towels were replaced every day and shampoo and body wash was also replenished. The housekeeping staff did a very good job of the rooms however as others have mentioned there was a few occasions where room service trays and linen was left under the stairs.
After enjoying our complimentary bottle of wine in the room, we went for lunch at the bar. There was a large range of sandwiches both hot and cold, however their description of ciabbata actually turned out to be a baguette. Never the less very enjoyable.
Our evening dining experience was definitely what made our stay!! We pre-booked in the restaurant for 8:30pm each evening which I would advise to ensure you are not kept around waiting for a table. The food was amazing and staff were very friendly! Each course had a choice of five, which provided a good range of different meals, all of which was changed daily. There were a few occasions where one or more of the meals were sold out which was mainly due to us dining so late so didn't bother us too much. On two of our evening we asked for a recommendation on wine, both of which were thoroughly enjoyed. The serving time on the first evening was a little slow however we were in no rush so again this was not a problem. Enough credit can not be given to the evening chef and staff in the restaurant they really are a credit to the hotel!!
We did have a few cocktails in the bar each evening all of which were amazing! They were pricey at £8.50-£10.50 depending on which one you had, but were definitely worth the money. We also had complimentary nibbles each evening with our drinks which were a nice touch.
Room service we only used once to get ice for our wine, of which after 30 minutes we did have to call again. This did put us off using the service again!
Breakfast was pretty standard if I'm honest. We had cooked breakfasts each morning so did not really make use of the buffet, which didn't look like it had a huge range of food on it. Juices were fresh and the coffee was very good, and the food was very tasty. Breakfast did seem to be under staffed, and the few members of younger staff there seemed to be inexperienced which I don't think helped at busy times. I think if you received the same customer service at breakfast as you do at dinner there would be many more happy customers. However I do feel I am being slightly picky for the sake of it.
We used the pool and steam room/sauna once during our stay which was a little outdated, but clean and in working order. We did notice a few time when walking past the pool there were children playing which would have made it hard to actually swim in. The golf course looked very well kept however we did not use it, and in my opinion the spa treatments did look a little pricey compared to some of the other spa hotels I have stayed at, but again we did not use this.
Overall though, I do feel the little things I have mentioned are more than outweighed by the rest of our experience in the hotel, and unless you are very picky they really shouldn't bother you! All of the staff are more than happy to help whether it be at reception, the bars or restaurant and we would definitely return if only for the great food!
