Excellent Chola tempe. Well preserved . Quiet environs. Clean well maintained. Very nice and not to be missed. The stone floors can be hot. You may want to wear socks.

“Beautiful Temple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

This is the same temple as Darasuram. The temple at Darasuram is also known as Airavateesvara temple.Beware of touts who want to sell you silk saris. The site is well maintained and is a UNESCO world heritage site.

“A great well preserved Chola temple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

It is actually DarasuramThe architecture is superb. Take time to wander around. Beautiful premises. Clean. Quiet. Do not see the bustle that you see in the more sacred temples, so the experience much nicer for a tourist.

“Architectural Marvel ... Preserved by ASI !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

Architectural Marvel, is the wonder Airavata Shiva Temple. The temple pillars are crafted intricately with mythological stories. The temple walls are spotted with statues . Going around this temple reminds me of Belur and Halibed but this temple is of hard granite whilst those are of soft granite.
