Description: Himalayan Coffee is a Western-run cafe specializing in Italian-based espresso coffees and fine desserts, including cheesecake and tiramisu. We also offer light food options for breakfast, lunch & dinner which include granola, wraps, quesadillas and thin-crust, stone-baked pizza. As a social enterprise, we also partner with many local communities in offering fair-trade, high quality Tibetan products to our customers. These items include 100% yak-wool garments, unique Tibetan handicrafts & jewelry, and yak milk soap.Location: Look for General Bridge (JiangJunQiao) in downtown Kangding with statutes of Tibetans. Our signage is visable on the south side of the river. Enter into tourist shopping district called "Liu Liu Chen"behind the large yak statute. Turn left on walking street at large prayer wheels. Cafe is located up a small staircase immediately on the left.Bringing coffee to the Himalayas and the Himalayas to the world. Come alive!

“Outstanding local advice and fantastic food and drinks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

A huge thanks to Jonathon and staff for going completely out of their way to give us such fantastic local advice on winter activities in and around Kanding and Tagong. We had a blast relaxing in your ridiculously comfortable and warm cafe while devouring delicious coffee and cake.

Himalayan Coffee is thoroughly recommended for outstanding local advice, excellent food and a great place to get warm from the cold.

All the best with everything!

“THE place in Western Sichuan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

Himalayan Coffee is a haven in the midst of long bus rides over bumpy roads! But it isn't a 'westerner hangout' taking you out of the culture around you. Foreigners, Chinese and Tibetans all enjoy a comfy atmosphere with high quality products. The workers are very friendly, helpful and glad to answer any questions you have. Head and shoulders better than any coffee shop you will stumble into in China.

“Best Coffee in China. Best Service in China.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

If you are traveling to Kangding, you MUST stop here! It's the only place in Kangding with a fireplace! And what's warmer than the fireplace is the warm hospitality you receive when you enter this restaurant. It has a western flare but doesn't abandon honoring the beautiful Tibetan culture. It is a beautiful cafe with some of the best coffee I have had in China...and I am particular about my coffee! The desserts are wonderful and if you need to do some shopping for your friends back west, they have some beautiful Tibetan made items at a reasonable price. Bottom line: Food is wonderful, coffee is excellent, service is great and the restaurant is a beautiful oasis in this little town hidden in the mountains! You are missing out if you miss coming here. Ask for Jonathan or Riga and they will make sure you feel at home!

“Great coffee. Even better lounging.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013 via mobile

Terrific place. Excellent coffee. Great seating right above the main drag with views of the river. The staff and the owner are both incredibly friendly and helpful. A really relaxing oasis after the rough buses of Kham/Western Sichuan.

“Friendly and Relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Clean and comfortable, with a range of excellent coffee and cakes - and cold bottles of imported beer - Himalayan Coffee is also a friendly place. On our two visits during a recent stopover in Kanding, the foreign owner and local manager were chatty and helpful, and it was easy to strike up conversation with other customers, who are a mix of travellers and locals. The small smoking section at the front of the cafe is a great place to sit and watch the world go by - even for non-smokers like myself and my wife.
