“quite good for the price but needs fine tuning”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

we booked this hotel during last week of august via onthebeach.transfer time was stated as 1 hour 15 mins, it was actually 2 hours(pretty horrendous with a 2 year old).so first impressions...we were left waiting five minutes while the receptionist was talking on the phone, not even a hola or a glance at us, bad start.ok so we sign in and are told meal times, and thats it, no mention of where the pool is, sauna, gym, safety deposit boxes, air conditioning etc so im afraid she scores zero for that.the rooms are basic with an old analogue tv, although air conditioning is free, all the fixtures in the bathroom were loose, there are also no locks on the toilet door, or the main door, so something to bear in mind if you have youngsters. the pool is good but not shallow, so again bear in mind if with kiddies, but water warm. food pretty good to be fair, eggs and bacon most mornings and a fair selection for night time but dinner is not served till 8pm which we thought was a bit late.drinks and other things in the hotel are very expensive so go somewhere else.wifi is free but a bit sporadic and we had to tell the receptionist to reboot server.hotel is cleaned well, staff are a bit hit and miss, some nice younger staff but also some icy miserable staff as well.
the resort itself is nice but quite pricey, we went for dinner at a cafe called malibu which was quite fair(1.50 euro for an excellent coffee), and the local supermarket(consume) is quite good, do try the wine in cartons(roxiela), at 87 cents a litre it does the job!
the seafront is nice with plenty of little parks for the youngsters, lifeguards in attendance, and none of the tackiness/rowdiness that you tend to see in benidorm, food varies considerably from about 5 euros a meal upwards, but thats the cost of the resorts exclusivity.
bus to benidorm is 1.50 euro single and run until midnight
binmen do there rounds at 11pm lol
would we go there again?(mum dad 19 year old 16 year old 2 year old)
probably but its a long wait when half board till 8pm
very multinational place, german, dutch, norwegian, spanish, british and probably in that order
overall very friendly and peaceful

Room Tip: do go up to the terrace, the panorama is great

Very Spanish hotel but that didn't put us off in any way. It was in the perfect location, just 5 minutes to the beach and central to everything. The rooms were clean and tidy. The food great and the staff friendly and helpful. Will be going back again.

We stayed here for 2 nights prior to heading to benicassim in July 13... We love albir and will always try to visit the area when we are in Spain.

This hotel came up during a search for reasonably cheap place to stay.. The hotel is located in a great location with a short stroll to shops and the beach restaurants etc.

The pool area is clean and tidy there is a terrace at the top of the hotel which is worth going too just for the views of albir itself!

Receptionist friendly and helpful and spoke English which is good as I think the rest if the residents staying here were Spanish.

Ate here only for breakfast which wasn't brilliant to be honest pretty much standard Spanish breakfast... Which as we were in Spain is what I suppose to expect!

Room was clean and tidy with a real cold air con unit!

Would stay again but would like for other hotels dependant on price.

Having just returned from a very agreeable stay at the Rober Palas Hotel I would recommend this lovely clean, very Spanish hotel to anyone who appreciates essentially Spanish food , especially the evening meals. These would not suit all English travellers. The Hotel is in a great location and has a lovely pool and the bar is popular with the locals in the evenings, even though it is quite expensive. Do as we did and prebook a room with a balcony as these are limited. All in all very nice and we shall return.

We chose this hotel for a two-night stopover and it proved ideal. Our room faced the back and was quiet, with a pleasant view. The room and bathroom were spacious, the bed comfortable and everything worked perfectly. We paid 143 euro for two nights dinner, bed & breakfast for two which we considered good value. Staff were friendly and helpful and there was a secure private car park which cost an extra 10 euro per night. The only criticism is that the food was never really hot.
Albir is a pleasant resort with a good bus service into both Altea and Benidorm.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2008

We have recently returned from a family holiday in Albir which was great but feel compelled to point out some important points in regard to the hotel Rober Palas.First of all there appears to be a discrepancy on different web sites concerning the stars allocated to this hotel ,it is definitely not a 4 star and in my opinion should be classed as a 2 star.Yes the staff were friendly the hotel was clean the food pretty average but it does not have any facilities. The pool area on the web sites looks great and i could just imagine myself relaxing on a sun lounger reading a book having the occasional beer from the bar but these images were soon shattered when we arrived as the pool area is nothing as it seems .The few sun-loungers ( approx 6 ) were all broken and they were squashed onto the footpath which led you to the pool because there is no space for a seating area by the pool. The other alternative for relaxation was the roof top terrace however this is deserted,,has no loungers and nothing like the images shown.
However despite all of this if you are looking for some where near to the beach and restaurants in the great resort of Albir then you can take your chance but make sure you are paying for what you get. May be our expectations were raised because we thought we were going 4* not 2 *

We stayed here for 3 nights in December and although the hotel was VERY quiet, the bar was quite lively at night with local Spanish people which was great. The staff were friendly and the rooms bright, modern and comfortable.
The buffet breakfast was good and included in the very reasonable room rate!
Will be visiting again for 4 nights in October this year and can highly recommend this hotel for value for money and location just a couple of minutes from the beach and restaurants in Albir.
