On the last day of a holiday, we took a walk from Albir through the Sierra Helada National Park to the Faro Lighthouse. Looking at it from a distance and as a mature couple, we thought it was going to be an arduous climb across rough terrain, but it was none of that. It was a wide tarmac footpath (in far better condition than most pavements in fact) which although ascended to a high position, was a gentle slop thought, with brilliant views of the blue Mediterranean as well as the towns of Albir and Altea and even further afield to Calp and the spectacular rocky promontory of the Penyal D'Ifach. The temperature that day in the shade was in the mid thirties, but as this was not in the shade you can imagine how warm it was, but despite this, we found the steady walk not at all taxing and more of a relaxation viewing the exceptional scenery on the way to a fully refurbished lighthouse in a prominent hilltop position.
