“A Great little Spanish get-away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

Our small group (taekwondo club) stayed here 3/4th May and found the hotel through Booking.com - its always a risk booking a hotel you know nothing about but we were very pleased with our choice on arrival.
The staff were friendly and help, the rooms were clean and tidy, the beds maybe a little firm for some.
Free Wi-fi is pretty much a must for us these days, although it pretty much didn't work in the bedrooms and had to go out to the stairs or into the public areas but it was there and it worked.
The pool isn't huge but it was clean and tidy.
Breakfast was included and there was plenty of choice - not five star but then this isn't a 5 star hotel and you get what you pay for and this was perfectly acceptable and enjoyable.
Were a little disappointed the hotel bar closed at 11 but maybe this was still early in the season.
The beach was only a short walk away, it was clean and tidy too although if you are looking for a beautiful sandy beach this perhaps is not the one for you, its more pebbly which I actually prefer :D
We enjoy our stay here and would be more than happy to stay there again in the future :)

Room Tip: You maybe want to stay away from the pool side of the hotel as the waterfalls make a quite a lot of...

1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

This was our second visit to the Rober Palas Hotel, we stayed there for a week during January 2013 but this time we were greatly disappointed with the hotel.
The “hot” food in the dining room was never warm and was sometimes cold. The fried eggs at breakfast were not cooked and had been placed on the hotplate in a raw state and left in the hope that they would cook. The dining room was left unstaffed on all occasions and there was no one to order a drink from or ask what any of the food was. Almost every night when we ate in the dining room there were no ladles for the soup and we had to go to reception to request one. One time there was no soup on offer despite the nights being very cold.
Mornings in the dining room were especially bad and there were never any cereal bowls so we had to eat our cereals from bread plates as there was no one to ask. One morning there was a trolley loaded with unwashed crockery in the middle of the floor in front of the food buffet area and we had to walk around it to serve ourselves. It was still in the same place when we left the dining room.
We could never find the female member of staff “Lumi” and had to seek her out if we needed to order a drink or ask a question. When we did find her she became irritated and was rude to us and shouted at us in Spanish in a very aggressive manner. On one occasion at the evening meal, I had to ask the girl from reception if we could have a bottle of water as there was no staff in the dining room. When the member of staff “Lumi” came to the table she was wearing rubber gloves and carrying a cleaning cloth. She hung the cloth on the back of a chair and when she returned she handled the drinking glasses and the bottle of water still wearing the rubber gloves which were dripping with some sort of liquid. We found this to be very unhygienic and I made a complaint to “Eugenia” on reception and asked that it be reported to the manager Ramon Ferrando, but we never heard back from him.
The final indignity came on our last day when we had arranged an early breakfast, and we even called at reception on the way into the dining room just to confirm the night man had been informed.
When we entered the breakfast room a female member of staff “Manoli” whom we had not seen before, came out of the kitchen and began to shout at us in Spanish and attempted to block our access to the Croissants and coffee. Her behaviour became very threatening and she went to reception to bring the night man to remove us. Although her exchanges with him were in Spanish we believe that he had great difficulty in satisfying her that we had been given permission to have our breakfast 15 minutes early as we had to leave for the Airport. This fiasco carried on throughout our breakfast with them stood over us arguing. We felt that this was indicative of the atmosphere that we had experienced throughout our stay at the Rober Palas.
When we arrived at the hotel we were allocated a room at the rear which faced directly onto a propane gas tank (see photo). The tank was sited about 15 feet from our balcony and occupied the whole of the view from the room window. We accepted the room at that time thinking that it was possibly the only room available. Subsequently we found out that the hotel was almost unoccupied and we did not understand why we had been given such a poor room when there were many more available. We assumed that it was for the convenience of hotel staff as it was close to the reception area.
One member of staff was very praiseworthy and he was the only reason that we didn’t create a bigger fuss over the dining room situation. Jamie on reception could not do enough for us. He helped to interpret the bus timetables and get extra pillows and made an effort to assist in all that we asked of him. It was only through his efforts that we were picked up on the final day. Beni-connect, the people who were shuttling us to the airport didn’t contact the hotel with the times of the pickup despite Jamie phoning them on our behalf on two occasions. See our separate report about Beni-connect airport shuttle service.

Stayed for 1 week over xmas. Only fault we found was the food although always came away full, not a lot of choice and luckily there is a microwave which we mainly used at breakfast for the coffee. Hotel very clean, rooms done every day, even when we put do not disturb, she came back after we had left room. Only a few staff speak english but with our little spanish had no problems. Parking was no problem and the wifi was free in reception area which was very comfortable. Tv only small but we don,t go on holiday to watch Tv. It was spanish orientated but Hello your in spain.Would certainly go back and if I was holidaying on my own would definately consider the Rober Palas

My girlfriend and I stayed here recently and i must say it was really good. The hotel itself is nice for the price, the food at breakfast was fairly standard everyday. where as dinner varied night to night. The pool is clean and rarely over crowded. It is a very Spanish populated hotel. And the town of albir is much the same (although there are enough English speaking places if you struggle with the language). Also benidorm is not far and the buses are very easy to get used to if you use them. My only complaints about this hotel are that we failed to get a double bed even though we asked a lot. And one receptionist refused to call our transfers for us as she said she didn't have to. But i would definitely recommend this hotel.

The Tv was 13" and the remote wasent working properly. Also the minibar was removed, which was a big disappointment.
The food was ok and ordinary. A bit boring.
The hallway floor was made of some kind of stone, and made alot of noise when walking on it. A bit disturbing at night when other guests are walking outside the doorway
This hotel is cheap, and that seems to be the only reason for booking it.

Good 3Star Hotel, only small but very clean and friendly..Very Spanish oriantated,we were the only English staying. Food acceptable, we stayed full board, but we were saved by the salads, which were very fresh daily. Great location though, lovely small resort, but if you wanted Benidorm the buses every 15mins. Not a good hotel for children in my opinion not much for them on site.

Room Tip: Only a few rooms with balconies.
