“translator required”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Very biased but gives a different perspective of the PRC. takes about 2 hours to do the three floors, main info boards are in chinese and english but the displays only in chinese so a translator is required. the displays show headphones as if a ausio track is available but I was not offered one at the reception. entry is free but a ticket needed from reception

“Intensive Text Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012 via mobile

A wonderful three story museum but a bit heavy on Chinese only text. The museum was also bitterly cold in winter. However, the English audio was great (if again somewhat more detail than needed). Videos were also Chinese only. Not being negative here as one should go and it is enlightening but it is not geared to English-language tourists as much as it could be.

“a visit to Memorial hall of the party”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2011

My wife took me to the Nanhu Revoluntionary hall.. I saw the history of the party and where the birth of it started.. This is a beautoful place that tells eeverything of the party. as they got there start from Russia.. My spent several hours there as i have a englsh speaking video monitor with me so when i was at different stations it would tell me everything about it in english.. this is a very remarkable place. A lot of suffering went on thru the years. But i would tell anyone to visit this place if they wish to know about the history of the Party.. it is beautiful inside..

“Huge museum tracing the lead up the establishment of the Communist Party in Jiaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2011

Having gone to South Lake, I went to where the old Revolution Memorial Hall is on the banks of the lake and found it was closed. I was directed to the new museum just a short taxi ride from the lake and found a surprisingly gigantic structure in the middle of a newly developed area. After getting in for free and getting an English language audio guide for 10 RMB, I was quite impressed with the exhibits and artifacts that trace China's history since the 19th century to today. The focus is on the lead up to the establishment of the Chinese Communist Party on South Lake in 1921; tracing the spread of Marxism in China. I would highly recommend this museum and I'm still surprised it exists in Jiaxing considering the museum's size and the great quality of the exhibits. Jiaxing is a very important site for the history of the PRC, so the government must have spared no expense in creating this informative museum with Communist artifacts and re-creations (even though this was built by China's Propaganda Ministry). *It's interesting to note there're no photos or websites regarding this museum that I've been able to find.
