“"Friendly with nice rooms!"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2012

Mick is a friendly host and runs a very nice B&B in the little fishing village of Kilmore Quay. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast - cooked by Mick's friendly granddaughter - was a tasty full Irish with freshly brewed coffee in individual plunger pots.

This place ticks all the right boxes and, in a part of the country that's not exactly over-supplied with B&Bs, is a high-recommended place to stay!

I prebooked Quay House B&B from a recommendation in the travel book I was using, Back Roads Ireland. Definitely not disappointed. We had asked for a twin room, and got a room with a double and a single bed, clean and very comfortable. Nice hard wood floors, a room with a view over the parking lot, with a distant view of the harbour. Mick Maguire was most helpful, and full of interesting stories too. Pat cooked us a fine breakfast each morning, served in the pretty dining room looking onto the thatch roofed cottages across the road. The village is lovely, we were treated to a very fine sunset one evening by the beach. Plenty of good dining in the area too. No wifi.

Extremely friendly service, great hospitality, clean and cosy rooms, nice breakfast - exactly what an excellent B&B can be. Saltee islands were amazing.

Room Tip: Beautiful sea view from some rooms.

My family of 5 (kids 13, 13, 15) stayed here 1 night June 21 and loved the hospitality. The village is quaint and quiet. Be sure to walk to forlorn point for unbelievable views of the water. There was a big group of guys staying there fishing that come every year so try to stay long enough to fish or see Saltee Island. Service was good and the rooms comfortable. It is about 3 hour drive to Dublin airport from here.

I hate B&B's but this one is run just right, clean, hotel like rooms. Run by a very nice family who will look after you as much as you require (or as little). Fantastic breakfast (full Irish on a plate). Dont hesetate in booking this.

Room Tip: No tips, enjoy :-)
