This house is a real find and only about an hour by car from Helsinki city centre. It is set in an elevated position above a lake and seemed on the grey misty day that we visited, to be in a world of its own. Now owned and operated by the state , we were the only one`s there on the day we visited and really enjoyed the fine detailing on the outside of the house using natural stone and logs, as well as the marvellous attention to detail within. Most of the furniture is also home made and fits beautifully into its setting. The world famous architect Eero Saarinen lived here as a boy and this wonderful house must have been a huge influence on him. The café served us a very good lunch too.
