“Easter weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

A nice weekend retreat from Helsinki. Large spacious rooms, very nice spa facilities...7 types of showers, large swimming pool, relaxation area with a fireplace and several mini pools for different use, etc. Large property is very wired for conferences. However they turned the auditorium into a big movie room for families on the weekend which was thoughtful and smart.

We spent here a romantic getaway for one night during the Easter holiday. Exterior isn't very nice, but once going to inside, you will be surprised how modern, stylish and cosy the interior actually is. Room is very nice and bed heavenly comfortable! Bathroom a bit small, but ok. If possible, please ask a room with a seaview.

Spa area is pretty nice, one big swimming pool (quite chilly water though, for me at least) and a couple of jacuzzis as well. Nice bar area equipped with a fireplace and sofas, where you can sit, relax and have a drink.

Restaurant at this hotel is excellent, very very good and tasty food, as well as excellent service. Not that cheap but still worth every cent!

Room Tip: seaview room

The hotel is surprisingly close to the city center of Helsinki, just 30 min drive. You would really never believe it when you arrive at the place. It's located by the sea with forest surrounding the building on both ends. Don't misjudge the place by the exterior, when you enter the building you will see that it has been tip top renovated. Of course some interior details go to matters of taste but the overall impression is really impressive. The rooms are very neat, our room came with a view on the sea. The SPA area is much better quality than average. Especially the treatment rooms and treatments exceeded my expectations. The overall experience at spa was great: there was a well equipped gym, ordinary sauna, infra-red sauna, nice long pool, jacuzzis and a comfortable seating area to have drinks at. The food was also a big positive surprise, the dining experience was on par with some high quality restaurants located in the city center with polite and helping personnel and the value for money was even better. Saying that the weekend was not one of the chepest ones combining all the costs together. However, I must say that it was worth it, after the weekend we had a really relaxed feeling and it felt like we had been abroad! Recommend to try!

Room Tip: Ask for a view to the sea!

This hotel's strength may also be its weakness. It is obviously outside the city, just a few kilometres from the outer ring road (Ring III). It sits on the shore of the bay from which the hotel and the village draw their name, (Lång Vik = Long Bay). It's a quiet little stretch of water with the marina of Langvik itself visible across the narrows. So in summer you may see some pleasure craft going by on their way to the open sea.

The hotel itself is a former training centre, once belonging to a large bank and was thus purpose built as a conference centre. One where the normal everyday distractions are missing. Replaced by the tranquil setting of a small country village. And yet, it's a short drive to the dual carriageway connecting one to the centre of Helsinki a comfortable 25 minute drive away straight down the recently built road.

The hotel public spaces are classy, maybe just a tad minimalist for some, but its clearly got a scandinavian flavour (despite it's Russian ownership).

The restaurant is a little pricey and with a lack of easy access to alternatives this may be a drawback. On the other hand the menu is very good and the food is widely regarded as excellent.

Some complain that the pool is a little cold, however once you're in it really is fine and for those who like to swim a few lengths to get in shape, the cooler temperature is apparently better. If you feel the need to warm up, jacuzzi's close by are nice and warm. If you feel the need to cool down there is also an icy cold plunge pool (only for the brave!). There is a selection of saunas (Infra red, steam and regular) and the amazon showers are good fun once you've figured out how the complicated electronic interface works!

All in all for a relaxing stay with family or a meeting with a few colleagues this place is a nice, slightly out of the way destination.

We've been here twice on a romantic get-away and really, they provide a much better service all in all than many of the high end hotels in Helsinki city center. The restaurant is gourmet class and the wine selection is excellent. As far as service goes, don't expect to be pampered by piccolos and friendly servants at every turn. It is a more matter of factly nordic style of service that gets the job done, but is not overly warm hearted.

The value for money on the special offers on weekends is excellent. Sauna, champagne, gym, drinks at the lounge bar, breakfast and all the details that really matter to clients like us have been perfect. Even the room service provided a completely satisfactory meal in a reasonable amount of time. Once you know what to expect over there, it's a great option to get away from it all without travelling abroad.

The staff is friendly and knowing, the food is perfect and the champagne tasting i heard was great but i never got the chance to experience it. The spa is even better because when i was there no one else wads there! But anyway the spa is great. I would not take my children there if they cant behave like grown ups because it really annoys me and probably other guests (and though there is no rule it is still rude to take a 11 year old boy there).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view of the sea it is beautiful by summer time.

Pros:
Modern/Stylish
Spacious Rooms
Good for holding group meetings
Decent Gym
Attentive Staff

Cons:
If you are looking for a hotel near places of interst, this may not e te hotel for you as it is in the countryside.

I stayed at the Langvik during a company meeting. The meeting facilities were more then adequate. The hotel in general was quite impressive for being in the the countryside.
