Reminded us very much of the setting of the hotel in the film. Lovely gardens to sit in and take afternoon tea (served with mini cupcakes). Some of the rooms were being renovated, which caused a bit of a problem for some guests, but we had a lovely room overlooking the lake, eucalypts in the foreground and herons nesting in the local trees. Each room is decorated differently and has a classic Indian feel to it. The chef is excellent, the menu varied, showcasing the local Rajasthan cuisine. A lot of thought and effort has gone into making this boutique hotel (still the family residence) a restful and tranquil haven. Writers like William Dalrymple have stayed here, and it's easy to understand why.
