Description: Stunning Country Pub in rural Hertfordshire, Just 6 miles from both Royston and Buntingford.Steeped in local history, The Woodman Inn offers a beautiful atmosphere and surroundings. We have a war memorial and we celebrate our ties with the 398th Bomber Group in WW2 by displaying interesting photos and memorabilia. We have a pool table, quiz machine and fruit machine in their own area of the pub (so as not to interfere with those not wishing to partake). We also have a play area outside for children and even two ducks in the garden! Our food is delicious and there is something for everyone on the menu and specials board. We have an extensive children's menu and welcome families. We have a special Senior Citizen menu on a Tuesday lunchtime and Steak night every Thursday. The bar area dates back to the 17th century and has the tradtional thatch, low beamed ceilings and open log fire and our restaurant area seats up to 60 people in a recently re-decorated dining room (a wood burner and low hanging, cast iron chandeliers). We also have a marquee in our gardens which is available for weddings and functions.Stuart, Jenna and all of the staff will always give you a warm welcome and attentive service. We hope you'll come and see for yourself soon.

“Good food and Heritage meet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

Quaint old English Pub offering traditional ales and roaring log fires and a very comfortable modern extension set out for dining. The woodman is tucked away off the beaten track in Nuthampstead. The Pub celebrates its connection to the second world war when it was a favourite haunt of the several thousand American Airman Stationed there and it brings that history alive with the many interesting photos and memorabrlia. I dont know if this is also celebrated in the food but my burger (of pulled pork) had a definate American Heritage to it. The cheese board although at first glance was rather meagre turned out to be enjoyably satisfying. The menu has something for all tastes and budgets and in my opion very well thought out. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food well presented and prepared. We have also visited in the summer and the lawn in front of the pub offered a pleasant place to site in the peace of the surrounding countryside never far from its past the garden also incorporates the American Memorial and a short walk from the rear car park takes you to what remains of the old historic WW2 airfield. Well worth a visit in our opion.
