“very friendly nice homemade food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

hi.i just returned from kefalonia.i have roots from there but not a home.and now with the crisis..anyway..i went to arhontiko to eat and i left with such a positive feeling that i had to give a feedback.the people who work and propably own it are very friendly.the food is real home made.the prices are very reasonable.for two main dishes plus a horiatiki salad a bottle of water, and an extra home made fries i payed 28 euros.from anywhere you seat you can watch people walk by the main road of the square, which is one of my favorite pass times.and you can always glance margarita's smile ,one of the owners, while serving you ,which always will make you feel just a little better.a real friendly atmosphere and a nice food.check it out.

“Authentic Greek taverna”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

If you are hungry for true Greek food (like I am), this is a place to go. They do not have an extensive menu, and they can invite you to the kitchen so see what is fresh for today. Both dishes that we ate (rooster in red sauce and roasted pork) were really good. I agree that house wine was not good, but, unfortunately, I was not able to find good red house wine in Kefalonia at all.
They do have very good Merlot Tsantali on their list, so if you are not alone, this is a good wine to order.
The service was excellent.

“don't expect too much”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

You will find a lot of tourist there, and no greek people, they try to please you but they want to make money and are in a hurry and they would better serve a better house wine. In all, there is nothing typically greek there.

“Fantastic food, great service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

Based on the reviews we read on this site, my husband and I were determined to go to this restaurant. We are so glad we did. Irini and her husband are wonderful hosts. The food was very good. I had a lamb casserole with feta cheese baked on top (can't remember the name of it) and my husband had the moussaka. We had a hard time finding it, as the english pronounciation is Arhontiko, but the greek spelling is apxovtiko. We asked local residents and they kept pointing us in the right direction. We recommend that any travellers to Argostoli try this great little restaurant.

“A bit of a disappointment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Just ate here this evening with a friend and two children. Given the reviews we decided to push the boat out a bit and order some of the most expensive stuff on the menu which proved to be a mistake. The house salad had too much balsamic vinegar on it for my liking which was a shame as it would otherwise have been lovely, however the big disappointments lay the moussaka which was cold and of canteen quality and the mixed grilled seafood which was almost inedible. In contrast the fried courgette was lovely and the kids loved their chicken schnitzel but this would not be enough to make me eat there again. The restaurant seemed to very much be catering for tourists which is not what I would have liked.
