Just back from a week at this hotel and it really does need to be stressed that the two public and private hotel beach really do make a stay here worthwhile.

The staff are also superb - from Tassos (daytime) to Makis (nighttime), Reception is good. In the restaurant, our two waitresses were Maria and Nicky and they cannot be faulted. Yes, you keep the same table but it was nice to actually receive 'silver service' after so many buffet 'experiences'.

We did not have a bungalow, rather a seaview room and, yes, these can be impacted by the pine trees - but think positive: waking to the noise of several goldfinches singing every morning is wonderful.

Argostoli can be walked to from The White Rocks but it will take the best part of one hour. There are numerous tavernas and supermarkets within ten minutes walk. All in all, a good hotel.

After great deliberation we decided to book White Rocks. As usual brochure pictures can be quite deceiving. We decided to pay the extra money and stayed in one of the bungalows. Which we named cell block h, which is what it felt like. I think that we were the first people to use the bungalow in the season as it was slightly damp and smelt musty. They have changed some of the bungalows to single beds, we were expecting a double. The rooms are very dark and if you like staying in a concrete cave then you will love it, not what we were expecting. As with greek accomm. everything was very basic. Also the bathroom was very dated and all fitments very warn out.

Anyway the long and short of it we asked if we could be moved to a room with a double bed, this became very handy as the rooms were so cold and damp that it was nice to get some extra warmth at night. We were moved to another bungalow the next day. which again was the same with double bed but the bathroom fitments were new and also the room had been updated with light coloured coffee table and chair etc. no dont get too excited that is your only furniture.

On a plus the staff were lovely and so friendly. The food and the whole experience in the dining room disappointing, as on another report you have to sit at the same table everyday and mealtime. Food 5 out of 10, we ate out a few times. Also you are very rushed nothing relaxing about the experience.

Would definately go back to Kefalonia but not to this hotel on the whole my husband and I were disappointed.

We stayed at the White Rocks for a week during the height of the season. I had seen the hotel before when looking for a holiday and it looked superb! With a pool overlooking the sea and little bungalows, the photos suggested it was the perfect place.
On arrival, we had a 5 minute walk to the room. Not bad, but not great for anyone with mobility problems (although I think you could catch a lift).
The room was very cool and kitch. It was a bit like being inside a cave, although I did like the novelty! The room was kept very clean and everything worked, and the patio and garden were a nice touch.
The pool was ok, although not like the pictures, and we didn't use it because it was very busy every day.
The private beach was nice, although you were very close to the people next to you, which meant you felt obliged to read quietly! The sea was beautiful, and I got some excellent snorkelling in!
We were booked in on a half board basis. As a foodie, I thought this was a bit risky but chanced it. Oh dear!
You are allocated a table, which you are expected to sit at every night. As we didn't know this, I found it quite stressful, and we ended up skipping the meals after 4 nights. When we were finally allocated a table (on night 4), we asked for one on the balcony, and were told that these were reserved for people who go back year on year! What I also found odd was that there was very little choice. I actually hate queueing for buffets in hotels, but not being able to choose my meal got a little monotonous, and I ended up feeling frustrated. To be fair, if we had been told about the seating system, it would have put the whole thing in a better light.
All in all, it was a good holiday, and we found a restaurant in the town that was lovely, and I got the chance to go scuba diving. There were just a couple of things that could have been better.

We surfed the net for hours to find something special for our Silver Wedding anniversary ... we're extremely fussy ... but, we made the perfect choice!
We stayed at one of the bungalows ... well worth the extra expense ... breathtaking sea view and a private sun-trap all to ourselves.
The hotel staff could not have been more friendly, in an unobtrusive, gentle manner.
All the 'good' reviews about the hotel are accurate;
Exceptional cleanliness ... everywhere
Delicious food ..outstanding standards of hygiene
Breathtaking location .. gorgeous gardens and to go to sleep with the sound of the waves on the shore, just heaven.
I would highly recommend this hotel for a romantic, relaxing get-away-from-it-all break ...
We can see why folk return ... we will definitely be.
Go there - you won't be disappointed!

“Great break away from it all!”

My partner and I booked the White Rocks after reading the great reviews on trip advisor, as it seemed like the best hotel in that area. Although it wasn't 4*, it was a lovely hotel with great staff and just needs some modernisation.

It's set in great surroundings, with loads of pine cone trees where you can sit out and eat lunch. While I'm on the subject of lunch, I strongly recommend swapping dinner for lunch as the latter was much nicer and had a better choice. DInner was disappointing for choice and quality-don't ask for soup!!

The rooms are a bit basic but clean and have daily maid service which was much appreciated. We also asked for a sea-view room and had a fabulous view over platis yialos (wide beach) which was a stones throw away.

The other beach attached to the hotel was a bit too rocky to be called a beach but had free sunbeds and parasols. The pool area was also great-bit chilly in october though!!

The weather was mainly lovely and sunny but there were a couple of huge thunderstorms while we were there-the Greek people looked very smug about this (lots of rainy britain comments!!).

The resort of Lassi isn't anything to rave about-just a good number of bars and restaurants along one main road. A few of these were closed as it was october but it remained lively all week. Watch out for "Oskar" of "oskar's restaurant" trying to give you leaflets-we're not sure that the "reviews" he gave us were genuine!! It was also a long walk away.

The bus service is good to Argostoli and I'd definately recommend eating in the square at night-it's got a great atmosphere!

It is also worth hiring a car but don't get sucked in to the rep's adivce-ours tried to sell us 3 days hire for about 130euros but we found it for 25 euros a day in Lassi. Make sure you go to Myrtos beach, it's just as amazing as the pictures, just beware of the roads-very dangerous!! Fiskardo is also a beautiful little place-there's a beach just on the left before you get into the town (think it was called Emblissi beach) that is fab-secluded with crystal clear seas!

Overall, a great holiday-Kefalonia is so beautiful, it can't fail to impress! The white rocks is a lovely base but just don't expect 4* british standards!
